Here is the difference between the Cleveland Indians organization compared to others. Last year when the Indians were in contention and by the end of Julys trading deadline they knew that they were playoff bound, They did nothing in trading to win NOW (or Then). They could have gotten Ken Griffey and a quality pitcher to help them in the post season, They did nothing. The Result as we all know, One game shy of the World Series in which they would have played the Colorado Rockies and that would have probably been a World Series Championship for the Tribe. My point: When you have a chance to win it all in any given year, You have to go for it because the opportunity for these small market teams don't come along every year, So you have to grab them when they do come. This year the Indians hit rock bottom and have come back down to reality and had to be a seller. Example. The Chicago White Sox have acquired Ken Griffey Jr. for their stretch run. Give the White Sox the Central Crown right now. The biggest one, The L.A. Dodgers have just acquired Manny Ramirez, See you in the World Series Dodger Blue. The Yankees gets Xavier Nady OF, While the L.A. (Anaheim ) Angels get Mark Teixeira and Ofcourse we all know Milwaukee got C.C.Sabathia. Hows come everyone else jumps at their opportunity and does what ever it takes for them to take full advantage of their chances when they come and the Indians just stay put and watch it slip away? Look at the Florida Marlins, Every 5 years they are right back with another chance after ripping their team down because they too are a small market team and starting over and returning in another 5 years. I will take a World Series every 5 years compared to not having one in 60 years.Mark Schapiro (Indians GM) and Owner Larry Dolan are nice guys, but they really have got to go and let someone with BALLS take over this organization. Thanks for letting me vent.
