Didn't see any mention of it on the site, but former band director, Chris Smith's father has passed away , due to cancer.

I first met John in about 1974.

I was good friends with sons Robbie, when he lived in Massillon, and played Little League baseball with Jamie as a kid.

John was always quick with a story, and could build anything out of nothing. he was a very caring man, and asked nothing from anyone.

He raised some pretty spectacular kids. Jamie was one of the brightest kids I'd ever seen in the classroom.

May God comfort the Smith's in their time of sorrow.

My family sends prayers to the Smith family as well. I remember seeing John helping out with building props when I was in the band. And you're right, he could build anything!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. He was my grandpa's brother.

My deepest sympathies to the family of John Smith. They are very special people.

John will be sadly missed. We always especially enjoyed talking to him and his wife, Erna at the concerts downtown.

God Bless You and Keep you in His Care during this time of grieving…and always.
