MUCsteelers, If you really want to talk about venomous defeats, let's talk about your beloved Wolverines being defeated by the Buckeyes five out of the last six years, and while we are talking about venomous defeats, let's talk about Michigan's defeat last year by Appalachian State. Remember, "YOU CAN CHANGE COACHES, BUT YOU CANT CHANGE TRADITION" I too have 11-22-08 marked on my Calendar. That is how long I have to wait to see the Buckeyes give your Wolverines a good old fashion a-- whipping !!!!!!!!!!!!

At least OSU fans aren't too much pompous big, arrogant, sweltering, trashed, aggressive, radically, demeaning, sadists like West Virginia fans are!
There are five others but I'll save them for a later date.

I really meant no offense to you personally. You took your shot at Buckeyes fans ,and I took mine back.I guess we will have to let the two teams decide it in November.

I couldn't care less what the rest of the nation thinks of us as Ohio State fans! We're proud of our Bucks! Ohio IS football! Since so many want to know why we are hated I want to know how anyone from Massillon could root for Michigan or Pittsburgh? Didn't Paul Brown play and coach at Massillon? Coach at Ohio State? Start and Coach the Cleveland Browns? All of the great coaches and players who still today have great influence on the game today that were influenced by him. What would cause anyone as a fan to root for these out of state teams if you had roots in Massillon or pride in our history and what this town has done for the game as a whole. In my opinion these people were either "corrupted" as a child from outside influences or just plain old front runners who when they were a little kid their local teams were down at the time and they just couldn't handle not rooting for "the best team". We suffered for many years since 1968 without a title and still kept our love for O.S.U. For anyone who has ever saw a game inside the "Shoe" you get what it's all about! Loyalty, pride, and tradition are just a few reasons WE as Buckeyes are hated. This state is the Mecca of football and we have the job of carrying on the tradition with great passion with which it deserves! Yes I say with great pride Muck Fichigan !

Your not from Massillon right? And the last sentence... that's our rival dude! I have to wonder why are the Michigan fans whining about this now? Is it because of Ohio State's recent ownership of the rivalry? What do they want us to do invite them over for tea? This is sports. Someone wins someone loses. Half the fans cheer and half are salty. Trust me dude, when Cooper was loosing so often to Michigan we were salty too.

Who got in your face? I'm not sure I know what you mean? I don't condone what you are implying. I think fans that do behave like that whoever they root for usually have been tailgating too long before the game. Don't get me wrong. I tailgate too but I hate obnoxious fans that attack the opponents fans. I've seen many of those kind of fans over at the "spigot" aka fawcett stadium. Maybe the actions of a few shouldn't reflect on the whole.

Whether you love them, or hate them, Ohio State demands respect. Opening up with Youngstown State for the last two seasons, ripping through the Mid-American Conference, and last but certainly not least, that dreaded Big Ten schedule. And now, in 08 & 09 Southern Cal comes into the picture! I would hope so because that's the only game all year worth watching. By the way, that includes the Michigan game!

You don't know how because you don't know football! Tressel just knows the huge importance of that game and knows how to have his players ready. When Desmond Howard played at scUM O.S.U. was breaking in a new coach from the south that only heard about Ohio State vs. Michigan. Kind of like Dick Rod. Can you stop putting 15 adjectives in a row on all your post?

These facts are pretty old. I won't totally poo poo on them. They are our rival and if they sucked that would mean Ohio State's biggest win every year was against a bunch of bums. But other than 1997 when was the last time that school from up north won anything? And in 1997 they had to play Washington State. Not even a Florida school or Southern Cal. It's not the players fault I know that, but has W.S.U. done anything since? Schembechler? Never won a sausage. Woody won 5 national titles! I really don't know when the last time Michigan won one other than 1997. Anyway, I do respect the accomplishments of that program and all the history. But what makes it a rivalry also makes me hate them every 3rd saturday in November. I was lucky enough to see the 1984 game (Spielman's freshman) and 1996 game. Both had Rose Bowl invites on the line. Best rivalry in all of sports!

Schembechler? Never won a sausage. Woody won 5 national titles!
I've been around a long time. Yes Woody won in 1954 and 1968. What other 3 NCs did he win? I know that lately OSU fans take credit for other years and I surmise I know what years you're talking about.
1957 - Auburn won the AP Championship and was considered NCs.
1961 - Alabama won both the AP and UPI polls and were NCs
1970 - Nebraska won the AP and were considered the NCs.
Believe me, even Ohio State fans back then didn't consider those years as NC titles.
As far as Bo Schembechler, how could anyone who professes to know football say he didn't win "sausage?" He is one of the greatest college coaches of all time. At Michigan he won a school-record 194 games, lost only 48, and tied five for a winning percentage of .796. His totals at Miami of Ohio and Michigan are 234-65-8!!
He won the "10 Year War" with Woody 5-4-1 and 11-9-1 overall against Ohio St. He had one of the greatest upsets in college football history by upsetting OSU 24-12. Now THAT year, Ohio State was well on their way to a NC!! They were actually being compared to NFL teams! But.....Bo beat Woody! So saying Bo didn't win sausage is a crock and you know it.

Those other years are recognized as NC just like Michigan split with Nebraska in 1997. All I am saying is Bo never won a title. And I think he only beat Southern Cal once in the rose bowl. His biggest win was against Woody in 1969. Shouldn't the rose bowl have been his biggest?

Woody Hayes had 205 wins and 13 big ten championships at OSU. Woody went 16-11-1 vs. Michigan. Bo was 11-9-1 vs. OSU.
Rose Bowls. Woody was 4-4 and Schembechler was 2-8-0!
Woody had players win 4 heisman trophies and Bo had 0.
Now I'm not trying to rub anything in because in the BEST rivalry ever you must give your rival credit and respect! Bo did have a better record head to head but Woody was on his way out and probably should have retired in 1975 or 76 because of health issues.
FYI in 1961 Ohio State never got to play in the rose bowl because the administration voted not to let them go that year because they felt OSU was becoming know as a "football school" and not a University for higher learning. That really crippled Woody with recruiting for several years after that. Schools competing for athletes just said, " don't go to OSU they won't even let you go to a Bowl game". Could you see that happen today!
Both were some of the greatest ever but when I get into these Woody vs. Bo arguments I have to mention the difference in championship rings.

Hey, I was there. I know all about it. I was in Paul Warfield's class and saw many of his OSU games. The Alumni Secretary Jack Fullen was the one who blocked the Buckeyes from going.
The AP Champion, just like with Massillon's state championships, was always considered the REAL NC. As far as the NCs in 1957, 1961, and 1970 I can give you proof that they didn't come close to UM's 1997 NC:
1970
