Warren Harding fan here. I know that you guys have been dealing with many haters lately. At the same time, most of that is due to jealousy. Despite what people may say, nobody can take away what Massillon has done for the game of football. You guys put Ohio on the map, and you raised the level of play for every team that you face. Schools like Canton McKinley, Warren Harding, and Steubenville (just to name a few) are better programs now because of their battles against the Tigers, and vice versa. I'm only 24, but after doing my homework on your program, I'm in awe of not only your accomplishments as a team, but for the names that you have produced. Simply amazing.

I don't want to bore anybody, but I just want to congratulate the Massillon community on getting their Titletown nomination from ESPN. Nobody breathes high school football like you guys. People should be happy that our great state has a representative among the finalists, and personally I have absoulutely no problem with Massillon being up for the award. Enjoy your celebration. See you guys in October!

Thanks for the words of praise for our beloved Tigers Worm02.

It's great to know that there are fans of other teams pulling for Massillon and their quest for TitleTown USA. You exhibit the sportsmanship we should all have towards each other.

Your right, this is something that brings attention to the State as a whole and not just Massillon.

Thanks again, see you guys in the fall.

I would like to add my thanks and commend you for having the intelligence to know your facts on the history of highschool football in Ohio. And for realizing that the focus should be on the big picture/the history / the legacy and tradition that will always be why Massillon is different from the rest.

For a young 24 year old, you sure are wise beyond your years:smile:

Hey Worm02, I remember you! You were the really "loud" guy at the freshmen's game last year, LOL!

Come on now, just between you and me, how old were some of those freshmen, anyhow? wink:

I sure hope that they didn't do anymore growing over the summer!

That's me!!! I wonder who you are. I met so many people from Massillon that week. Tough losses, but I had fun.

Congrats on the nomination, you will have some votes coming from West Michigan.
Good Luck! Wish I could make the rally on Monday. I am confident you will have a good turnout.

I have to say, you have some tough competition. I think this will honestly come down to Green Bay, Columbus, or Ann Arbor. Green Bay is like Massillon (but on a slightly larger scale), and Columbus and Ann Arbor have two of the biggest college campuses in the country. If this comes to a popular vote, I think these three are a tossup.

I discount the large metro areas like New York and Chicago because these cities will not get the locals charged enough to care (they have other things like getting to work and crime to worry about)

We all know Massillon is Titletown, but it will all come down to who promotes this more and who has the people to rally this and turn out to vote.

Massillon Always!

According to this article, not as many people as you might have suspected actually showed up for the rallies.

http://media.www.michigandaily.com/media/storage/paper851/news/2008/07/14/AnnArbor/Michigan.Fans.Stun.Espn.Crew.With.Noise.Level-3390694.shtml

excerpt:
"There were the 2,000 Kentucky faithful that filed into Rupp Arena in Lexington. The 4,000-plus who showed up in Valdosta, Ga. to honor one of the most dominant high school football teams ever, the Valdosta Wildcats, made quite an impression on the production crew. And, of course, trips to the premier pro sports towns in the country - Detroit, Boston, Chicago and the list goes on - were a given.

But of all the places it has gone, all the people it has seen, the TitleTown crew found something it had yet to experience when it visited the Diag this afternoon:

Too much crowd noise.

Ann Arbor is the 16th town out of 20 that will be featured on the segment, and, despite the famous stereotype that Michigan fans are subdued and quiet, it's the only city so far in which the ESPN producer had to stifle the crowd noise so the anchors' voices could be heard on the microphones.

"I live in North Carolina," ESPN personality Nicole Manske said, comparing her Michigan experience to the only other TitleTown segment she's anchored, Chapel Hill, N.C. "So I'm kind of biased to North Carolina, but this is way cooler. The fans have come out here in full force, which is great, because (this competition) is not just about how many titles a town has one, but also the passion of the fans."

I am more than confident that the Massillon fans can and will show as much passion as was seen in Michigan and impress the ESPN crew even more so:tig:

If we get that T I G chant going in full gear, we can rock that place just like we do at the Mckinley games:ers:

And then there is this article commenting on the turnout in Columbus:

excerpt:

"Thursday’s event at OSU (Columbus's TitleTown segment) – which was held between St. John Arena and Ohio Stadium – was similar to ESPN’s College GameDay program. Wendi Nix was the host and she interviewed two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin on the set (one of his Heismans was also perched on the set). Over 200 Ohio State fans showed up dressed in full Buckeye gear.

200! Considering that, when GameDay is in Columbus, there are anywhere between four and five thousand people around that set, I wouldn't be happy about this turnout if I were ESPN. "

For SURE we are going to represent better than they did:jestera:

Worm02 I would also like to thank you for the comments you have made. I'm glad the teams got back on schedule. I was also at that freshman game. OMG!!!!! Every body was huge. Birth certificates please. I honestly thought that our Tigers was going to get crushed. But I was very happy about the outcome. Once again, thanks and good luck this season ( until Oct. 11 2008 ).

I cannot wait to see the ESPN titletown segment on the Tigers. So many naysayers simply don't understand TRADITION. In this era of "what now" people seem to forget that high school football began in Ohio in the 1890's NOT in 1972 with the advent of the playoffs. Clearly ESPN understands the entire scope of the Massillon football story from the very beginning in 1894 to today. Those folks who are being negative about Massillons apperance on the Titletown series are simply jealous of the incredible tradition, history, community support and facilities that you have in Tigertown. I get so tired of reading the "paper champion" remarks about the 22 state titles Massillon has won, and how your beloved Tigers have not yet won a title on the field. Trust me, we Fremont Ross fans understand that feeling as we constantly hear the same thing in regards to our abysmal playoff record. I have no doubt that Massillon WILL win state title on the field and hopefully our Little Giants will as well.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TIGERS AND THE ENTIRE MASSILLON COMMUNITY ON THIS GREAT HONOR..BEST OF LUCK IN THE TITLETOWN COMPETITION! You can bet this Fremont Ross fan will be watching and supporting the Tigers!

GO TIGERS!
Lets GO Little Giants!

Thank you Keith for your well wishes and supportive words. Oh, and did I say Intelligent? It is very refreshing to hear that others outside of our own community get it when it comes to this whole thing and the importance of bringing national attention to Ohio high school football in general.

Good luck to the Little Giants this season:rockon:

By the way, I got a little chucklefrom your cute little avatar:laughing:

Roscoe, might be cute, but with that club he can do some major damage. Be proud of that mascot Keith and mostly in your school. I wish the Little Giants of Fremont Ross all the best. Thankyou for your kind words.
