I am glad they are back on the schedule. I have enjoyed most of the games between the schools. I remember the game in 1983 especially. I think we lost to them 14-10 and Charles Gladman was a tailback for Garfield. I believe we went 9-1 that year but missed the playoffs because only the top two teams from each region made the playoffs. It is a shame because I thought we had a real shot at the state title. If memory serves, I believe Garfield did make it all the way to the state championship that year, but I could be wrong about that.

Garfield lost to Princeton 24 -6 in the '83 Title Game.

I still remember the ferocious hit Michael White put on "Beanie" Wells. Wells was just a sophomore that year, but he missed a few games with a bruised chest after they played the Tigers.

I'm also happy they have decided to renew their series with us. Garfield is a long-time opponent and a team I have a lot of real respect for. Our games with them are almost always rugged battles. They're also a great points-getter if we defeat them. Hope they stay on the schedule.

Definately good having them on the schedule. Some years they can be a cake walk but other years it's a real battle. And more often the latter.

Think Charles Gladman. One of the best I've EVER seen.
