based on what i was told it was going to be the look of the helmet above (1991 logo). i am currently trying to get confirmation of the change, but my initial sources told me the look that is posted on massillontigerhelmetproject.com

Thanks, because that's all it was meant to be... It just seems like everyone was getting a bit uptight. From where I'm at.... Massillon has great colors, you can hardly mess anything up with such great colors.. The orange and black just look great together on every level.. The Tiger.. well there's really alot to work with.. I've seen some great Tiger logos, the icing on the cake is we also have Obie which no one has...Now the Jordan Utah Beetdiggers... well, um not much to work with there. I mean, I guess you could throw a really big shovel on the helmet, or some dude in overalls that looks really pissed off that he didn't try harder in school... And I guess you're pretty much locked on beet purple as your color, possibly trimmed in mud brown... I guess I have to ask... How would you like to look at that every friday? Now does it really matter what combo of orange and black we wear?. Now with that, I do admit I like the Beetdigger nickname, pretty unique and probably alot of very proud history behind it.. Either that or a very bad idea by some high ranking school official..

Anybody remember the helmet logos we had back in 1970,the year we won our last official state title? It was a tiger that looked like it was crouching,ready to pounce.We haven't had that logo since then,and I don't recall anybody bitching about the way it looked.It wasn't the leaping tiger or obie,but it looked pretty cool.

If I'm on the other team, I run at the guy with the white helmet rather than the one with the stripes and decals. If I see two guys in the Tiger backfield, I key on the one with the decorated helmet.

My opinion is that regardless of what needs to be done to get the decals on the helmets, they need to get the decals on the helmets. I understand the whole "earning" a decorated helmet thing, but not the basic decals that make up the uniform. Don't get me wrong, watching the team run out of the tunnel enveloped in billowing smoke, and bust through the 2008 Tigers sign surrounded by the 2008 MTSB, while fireworks bombed in the endzone was exhilarating to say the least. But it definitely left something to be desired when they were wearing what looked like plain old boring practice helmets. And honestly, I'd feel alot less intimidated by a dude coming at me in a boring white practice helmet :zzz:, than a monster in a kickass decked out black and orange Tiger helmet!:rockon:

Couldn't agree more gotigers3796! People here long ago lost what the concept of an internet forum is.....An internet forum is a place for people who have like interests (The Tigers and Massillon) to come and discuss that like interest, from the most important part of it to it's most minute detail....

So what is wrong with coming here and discussing what is or isn't on the helmets? Is it hurting those of you who criticize it? Is it affecting your lives in an adverse way?....Don't think so. This constant bashing of each other on here is sickening. Everyone here USED to get along for that one common purpose of supporting The Tigers and Massillon. The Tiger I'm talking about was from the 60's and was copywrited by Chevrolet, as they were thinking about coming out with a car called Tiger, I believe this is correct. We paid them for using it, since they never came out with the car I would wonder if we would still have to pay for its use.

Anyone ever seen Elyria Catholic's helmets??...they can earn extra green stripes for their helmet. Some guys have real thick stripes, while others just have the standard stripe. It's a way of recognizing big plays, etc. THAT would be a case where I'd run away from a guy with a thick helmet stripe.

So there may be some merit to the helmets being white other than the "earn their stripes" reason? Huh.

my bigger point that I could have made more clear was that they didnt settle on a logo until just over a month ago correct? Maybe that didnt leave them enough time to get them ordered and applied. Just a theory.

They were fixed before the last pre season game and it was only a handful that had the problem.

The helmets are sent back reconditioning each December, only ones that are not sent back are the ones that the players buy , so in that case new helmets are bought.

I'm not going to lie, my first thought was "Did they forget to order them in time or did they not have the money?" Only cause of the issues with getting uniforms did I think that. I'm glad I wasn't the first person to say that. I don't know, seems more plausible than making them wear an all white helmet. That looks messed up. Coach Hall is trying to do something positive here with these young men. He is trying to instill in them a sense of pride by earning their stripes rather than the sense of entitlement that so many of you have complained about in the past.

I see no good reason to continue to question or ridicule his tactics. How about just putting some faith into our new coach and give him a little support instead?
