I guess that osu just has more money to give to recruits then rival schools can fork out. Don't give that crap that there going to osu for academices if that was the case then northwestern would have the best team.

How does Tressel do this? I wish he'd have stayed in middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik's hometown (Youngstown) and close to two-time jr. welterweight champion Frankie Randall's hometown (Warren).

Unless your a Michigan fan why would anyone "wish Tressel would have stayed in youngstown"? This bond you seem to have with Pittsburgh is weird dude. You weren't even born when the Steelers won those super bowls in the 70's. And trust me I was recruited by YSU in the late 80's when Tressel was there and that towns a dump! He did a great job while he was there but if you read any books on him you'll know that OSU was the job he had his eye on all along. He passed up the Miami, Florida job because he knew Cooper's time was about up in the last 90's. Anyway, is this youngstown thing just because its close to Pittsburgh? Tressels right where he wants to be and belongs. Columbus, Ohio a far greater city than Youngstown or Pittsburgh for that matter.

Yes, and based on the spelling and grammar of your post it is BLATANTLY obvious that you're a Northwestern grad there Mr. Academia.

osu is a great academic school. it may not be on the level of a northwestern or UM, but where else are you going to find a mixture of great academics and greath athletics? not to mention a HUGE alumni to help with jobs when you are done with school.

Tressel will dominate RR.
Coach Rod is an emotional wreck.
Distraught over a loss to Pitt?
Wait until Tressel runs 3 in a row on him. The pressure of the OSU/UM rivalry will melt this guy.
I stand by my previous comments, this was an awful hire by UM.

Some coaches just have the ability to recruit. I think it has much to do with their personality. The coaches who seem to do the best in recruiting exude a calm confident demeanor and seem almost to be more of a positive father figure. Tressel has it. I think that the coaches at Florida, Texas and USC have it as well. I think Paterno had it, although I think his age has hurt him now and he is more of a less aware, grandfatherly figure. Oddly, John Cooper had it. His problem was he didn't take full advantage of the talent he had.
The new Michigan coach seems like he has a little bit of an attitude and he is a little "oily". I am not sure he will have the success some of the other coaches(especially Tressel) will have in recruiting. I am not a Michigan fan, but I think they made a mistake in hiring who they did. His last days at West Virginia were a view into his personality. Yes, his team lost a game to Pitt that they should't have, but afterwards he was a baby and it doesn't appear he was truthful to his players, fans, and the administration at West Virginia during the whole Michigan hiring process.

LLRose,
The storm is at it's greatest when your back is to the wall...either you will face the storm head on or it will take you down.
Don't put the book out on Rich Rod Rodriguez yet.

These kids for the most part go to college to play football, period. And right now Ohio State is the place to go other than USC, Texas, and a couple of SEC schools. That's why they go there not because they are forking out more money. Somebody sounds bitter.
