No, Massillon doesn't mean DA MILK, they may for whatever reason refer to it as that.
My question was what does it mean, not what it refers to.

my nephew just walked in the door...he is college bound here in a few years...i said to him, when you go to college and someone asks you where you are from what will you say......

GUESS WHAT HE TOLD ME.....DA MILK....

POINT PROVED.....the kids are going to say this is where they are from....NOT MASSILLON unless someone doesn't understand what they are saying, maybe someone like you and he would clarify this....

when JT gets back, I'll ask him too.....you would be surprised!!!!!!!!!!

according to urban legend or some dudes i used to take home from open gyms... its what drug dealers used to call massillon when they needed something to refer it to.

it is a super retarded nickname and in high school was the magic word to recieve a good beating.

Paul Brown

Maybe Canton folks can call it "Da Cereal" And Tuslaw can be "Da Toast"
Akron can be "Da apple juice"

Just called my daughter, ......... she's out shopping. She says that people do call Massillon, 'da milk' . However, she has no clue as to why, and said it is definately a 'black' thing. Don't take it as a NEGATIVE that something is refered to as a 'black' thing. GEESH !!

Called my son ,07 graduate, and asked him what "da milk" means and he said that is what kids from Massillon call Massillon, said its not a term he uses often and that it isn't just one race specific either. So now I know. Boy do I feel better:)

I hear it all the time.
If you have a myspace account... try hitting "browse" and searching for 18-25 year olds from 44646.
Your search results will pick up the cool kids from Massillon and about half of them state where they are from as "Da Milk". You dig?

I think trying to analyze its meaning is pointless, why do they call the New York the big Apple? or Cinncinnati Porkopolis?
Or Cleveland; Mistake on the lake? well actually that one makes sense.
But you get my point.

My question was what does it mean, not what it refers to.

i think its just because Milk and Massillon starts with the same letter, thats all i got

Since mommy is the seasoned pro at ' DA MILK ' , perhaps she can give us a history lesson on where it originated and exactly what it means or refers to.

I haven't found 1 person that knows any meaning behind these words, but I'm dying to find out.

I am an adult and do act like an adult, however, I have two high-school aged boys and their friends are over at my house constantly.....it seems this is where they like to come...they all love me and love that.....

I don't act like I am in highschool, I just have a lot of interaction with the boys and girls from the highschool and hear how they talk everyday.....

IT IS WHAT IT IS.....

LOL!!!!!!!!
