Yes, he's a very special guy.

Now would everyone show him some respect, and recognize that he is not "Mike", he is Michael.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

 My point is that there's a lot of guys that look like Tarzan in shorts and t-shirts, but most of them play like Jane in football gear.

I was one of the first people to meet Mike when he arrived in Massillon. When he arrived at my house, he introduced himself as Mike, so that's what I always call him. Daughter calls him MICHAEL !!

From what I read, it says he can run a decent 40 time and a good shuttle-time. Didnt say a thing about how well he can throw the ball.

It didn't say anything about him throwing the ball because this event was not about that. Why not just congradulate the guy for a job well done and representing Massillon well?

Congratulations to Michael for standing out in this camp. That's nice, but I don't want him to think that it makes things easy in the game of football.

I had a teammate in college who was built like a model, jumped out of the house and ran like a deer. He actually held the world record at one time and won an Olympic gold medal in the 400 meter dash. He played WR for us and couldn't catch a cold. Not trying to diminish the accomplishment, but shuttle times and verticle jumps don't beat your opponent on the field.

Michael is very focused and working hard for the upcoming season. He knows what it takes to play football. He's a dedicated individual. Showing these kids a little respect shouldn't be so tough. For someone who played at Massillon, I'd think you'd be a bit better about that. Your lineman remark in another thread was really classless.

I don't think anyone's denying the fact that he's dedicated and working hard. That's great! I'm just making a point that it doesn't mean a thing if you don't apply it of Friday nights.

You may want to call my comment classless, I call it reality. When we don't push kids to be the absolute best they can be and feel good about being average, then that's a shame. Yes, I played, and if I didn't have coaches who berated me, embarrased me, then built me up and pushed me, I wouldn't have accomplished what I did.

There is that "support" again.

Can't you at least give the kid some props? He is busting his ass to get better instead of being positive about his work ethic we feel the need to throw in some cheap jabs instead.

I don't think it's your job to berate, embarrass, build up (funny that you don't do that one), and push the kid anyway. Go get on the staff if you want to do that.

So maybe your "support" comments should be directed at the coaches and NOT at the players then if you feel the way you do. If they aren't achieving and reaching their full potential because they don't have a coach doing the things you said, why do you feel the need to put down the KIDS?

Funny! I was on the staff for several years and promise you, because of people like you and the other things that come with coaching in Massillon, won't do it again. I'm not putting down any kids, just keeping their head straight if they read my posts.

I can't wait for school to start again so your not posting as much toxic, politically correct, poison for the kids to read. Probably a good thing you didn't get the soccer job at Massillon.

I know. How dare people congratulate a kid for working hard. Shame on them. :wtf:

Probably a good thing you aren't on staff any more either.

I guess making fun of the o-line and implying that one of our own is "Jane" on a public forum isn't my style. And once again you avoid the major issue in that your problem should be with the coaches and NOT the students.

Not sure what you are talking about. Maybe you need to get your facts straight. The head coach job has never been open. I was an assistant coach for year but left to come to NC.

BTW, my soccer team won the conference this year and beat a team who hadn't lost in 4 years. I was also a football coach 2 years ago for a team that was in the championship game two years in a row. Despite what you think you know about me, you haven't a clue. I know what it takes to get the most out of kids, and that is not getting on a PUBLIC FORUM and insulting them.

The article says he is the QB for Massillon.I simply wanted to know what he did at this camp that showed he is a good QB? From what I read, the article would be more supportive of a track star not a QB. How does what he did at the camp translate into being a good QB? If you say we are running the option then I support that, however, if we are running pro-set, I, etc. this doesnt tell me much. Thats all I'm saying. As far as his speed, it sounds very good.

It great to hear that a kid is putting in effort in the off season to improve. It may not prove he is a good QB but it shows that he wants to work hard and become the best he can be.
Great Job! Michael

What it does show is that he is in the top two percent of all athletes tested in the country. He has the fastest shuttle time in the nation. I will take all the athletes like him we can get. Nike has put these on all over the United States testing thousands of high school athletes. Michael has been working with Jim Ballard for several weeks as well. Jim Ballard was the qb for Mount Union College for their first national title. He won the world bowl in Europe in 1995. Played for Marv Levy and the Bills, and for the Miami Dolphins as well. He says Michael is going to have a great year. He is also starting to do film sessions with Michael to read defenses to better his chances for success this year. Michael was also invited to a Notre Dame on Monday by the coach of Harvard University to work out for them. He was also rated as the 6th best qb in Ohio High Magazine in the March 2008 edition. He must be doing some thing right to be drawing this type of attention.

Just my thoughts, maybe some one else knows more.

Thanks for ALL of the info !!! Now the real question: WTF happened with the QB position last year ?? Michael is obviously an awesome athlete. That being said:...........When Coach thought that Willow was the better QB, why wasn't Michael given a slot or WR spot ??

All of this makes it sound as if Stacy isn't the QB coach that he was advertised to be.

It's really funny, because when Michael came to town, he was heralded as a promising prospect. Is he just now coming into his own, or was Stacy really misjudging his talent ??

I didn't ever think that Michael's arm strength and accuracy were ever in question. :tig:

Good questions, Dawg! Maybe he just became this good athlete over the winter? Same as how JT Turner became an All-American over the winter. Man, I'm glad he's out of here.

I believe Michael was injured and could not play after game 3.. It was a rotating QB situation before that. Can't remember which one started the game. I remember it being kind of weird though....

I honestly believe that the plan was for Clark to be the starter eventually. He really didnt know the offense when he first came here last year and honestly neither of those 2 in the rotation stepped up and seperated themselves.
Stacy was propably thinking that one of those 2 would get tired of sharing the spot and take over the reins. Thus he was thinking like a quarterbacks coach should think.
Stacy takes alot of criticism around here for his play calling that Im not sure is warrented.Anyone who saw the first game plus the 2 scrimmages could tell you that the scheme was working like a charm. The team just did not show up for the Solon,Normandy,or(especially)the Ignatius game.
That was the failure of Tom Stacy. He could not motivate the kids
Anyways,I got off subject.Congratulations to Mike.He is now displaying those leadership qualities.

Micheal got hurt early last year and could not play. With all do respect to Micheal how can a young man that has hardly played any varsity football be the 6th best quarterback in the state of Ohio? Colleges and these magazines need to start looking at football players not prototypes. Just my opinion.
