Former Tribe shortstop makes return to Cleveland tonight for three-game series with San Francisco

San Francisco Giants shortstop Omar Vizquel should expect quite a homecoming today when the Indians host his San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series. The 11-time Gold Glove winner, who broke Luis Aparicio's major league record for most games played at shortstop on May 30, returns to Cleveland for the first time since signing with the Giants as a free agent on Nov. 16, 2004. Omar & Robbie were the best "double play" duo, that I ever saw play !! Brings back memories of when I had a season package during the Tribe's wonder years !!

How great was it to see the standing ovations for Omar tonight?! He truely deserved it for all the thrilling plays along with his generosity to his fans and Cleveland community. I never saw that guy in a game during all of those years where he wasn't smiling, picking up his teammates' spirit in the dugout, or making something happen. Omar, Kenny Lofton, and Sandy Alomar would always take time to sign autographs for the fans who would wait outside of the team's parking area whether they had won or lost. He will always be loved by the Tribe's fans for all of the wonderful memories he gave us all:love:

FAN FAVORITE Cleveland fans seek an autograph from Omar Vizquel, the former Cleveland Indians shortstop who left the team to sign with San Francisco before the 2005 season. Tuesday night marked the first game that Vizquel had played in Cleveland since 2004.

I know that Omar doesn't OWE Cleveland anything. But it sure was nice to see him 'give back' a little to the fans, to show his APPRECIATION for the years of loyal dedication and support that the FANS and CITY OF CLEVELAND provided him. :smartass: :poke:
