JACKSON, Miss. - Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth to a baby girl Thursday morning at a south Mississippi hospital, according to a friend of the Spears family. The friend, who asked not to be identified because the family had not yet announced the baby's birth, told The Associated Press that the baby was named Maddie Briann and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

The 17-year-old Jamie Lynn was the star of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101," a sitcom about prep school friends, and is the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears. The Spears family announced in December that Jamie Lynn was pregnant. The father is Casey Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Miss. The couple is not married but announced an engagement several months ago.
Ellen Brannan, spokeswoman for Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, in McComb, would not give out any details. "We understand everybody's interested, but we don't give out information on anyone. Everyone's entitled to their privacy," she said.
The younger Spears lives near Liberty with Aldridge, 19, and has been seen around the small south Mississippi town often as her pregnancy became more apparent. Her family owns a home across the state line in Kentwood, La.
Spears announced her pregnancy through an article in OK! Magazine and was expected to receive a large payday for exclusive pictures of the newborn.
Nickelodeon issued a statement about the birth on Thursday, saying, "We wish her and her family well." Nickelodeon spokeswoman Marianne Romano said that filming of the fourth and final season of "Zoey 101" was completed last summer before Spears became pregnant.
Spears portrayed Zoey Brooks, a student at Pacific Coast Academy, a campus that had been an exclusive all-boys boarding school until Zoey and a handful of other girls arrived. At the end of the series, Zoey gets the boy — longtime crush Chase (Sean Flynn).

A lot of them opt to voluntarily get a C-section, so that they can have plastic surgery/liposuction done at the same time in order to get their pre-pregnancy shapes back. It's pretty routine in Hollywood, and the reason you see a lot of celebrity moms looking fantastic even just a couple weeks after having a baby.

I had a C-section with my 18 month old (he was breech and couldn't be delivered normally) and we got to pick his birthdate, and since he was due the last week in December, we chose my birthday, December 29th.
Although, I will admit that I had an ulterior motive: I figured that with us having the same birthday, everyone will be so busy celebrating his birthday every year, that they'll kind of forget about mine and the fact that I'm getting old.
Like this past December, all the birthday guests for Jackson's 1st birthday were so into helping him celebrate that they totally forgot that I turned the Big 4-0 the same day!! See? There's a method to my madness!

Oh, its really not so bad turning 40. I just made a proclamation on that day stating that from now on, my birthdays will go backwards! I am now 37 going on 36!

Now I get back on topic! I read about Jamie Lynn last night. Congrats to her and glad that she had a nice, healthy baby but then I read this:

Totally amazing to me. Do you think that the glamorization of these "Hollywood Births" has anything to do with this? What a bunch of nutters! Do they not know about lost sleep, dirty diapers and spitting up? And I haven't even gotten to the total life and body changes. Great that Jamie Lynn has the means to support her choice, but a lot of these girls don't.
And BTW, I could kick myself now for not having "complications" with my 2 C-sections and getting my fat sucked and tummy tucked! :blush2:

tigergirl,
You're a young 37. I've seen women that don't look their ages but possess an aura about them that sets them aside from other women from their respective cities (with the exception of one)!

I feel sorry for these girls. They are obviously unaware of how much work actually goes into raising a child. It's a 24/7/365 job that you never get a break from.
And they can pretty much forget about having any type of a social life after becoming a mom. Once you're a parent, your wants and needs take a backseat to those of your child. And life becomes about naps, diapers, formula, runny noses and tantrums. It's no longer about your friends, parties, concerts, boyfriends and prom.
The parents of these kids need to start taking a better look at their lack of parenting and get with the program. Otherwise, they're going to end up being grandparents of multiple illegitimate babies when they're still in their 30's themselves...and probably taking care of them to boot, and footing the bill for all of their care and upbringing.

What work? You forget that these are celebrities. Babies are more like a fashion accessory than an actual child. The nanny is the one who does all of the tough things you mentioned.

Here is another scary story:
http://www.zeenews.com/articles.asp?aid=450106&sid=LIF&ssid=68
Teens at a high school make a pact to get pregnant so they can raise their babies together. All are under 16 and one is even pregnant by a homeless man.

austimsm11,
Tell me you did not just post that. What are these adolescents coming to now these days?
So much for abstinence in this day and age. Thank goodness I'm single!

I hear what you are saying! I didn't have my first until I was 37 and it is tough enough for us! I could not even imagine 15 or 16 without solid support system. I can't imagine the parents of all of those girls are going to want to go through it again. I just hope they can make smarter choices for their babies futures. Being a teen is tough enough. Why not just enjoy? Why make it even harder? But I guess that is the 1 millon dollar question that we have/will be asked/asking!
