I vaccinated both of my babies and would do it again. BUT, I totally agree with an overhaul to the whole system. I agree with all 5 changes for sure.

Not that anyone cares what I say... but hey.

Tigergirl, your opinion has just as much merit as, and is valued as much as anyone else's who posts here on M.P. Don't sell yourself short like that again!

All of my children, as probably most here, I would imagine, have had all their vaccinations as well. Never had any problems with any of the four other than they typical crankiness and brief fever.

I have 4 children and all of them have gotten vaccinations, and I would choose for them to get them if I had to do it over again. The complications are so minor in relation to what could happen if they didn't get them. Although, I do see some benefit to possibly spreading the vaccines out over a longer period of time maybe.

We got slightly off schedule with our youngest baby, Jackson, due to him having to go through 2 unrelated surgeries and because he was in the Special Care Unit for a lengthy time after birth, and I actually think he has fared better after getting them as far as side effects, etc.

We vax and would do it again. But I do agree with the changes suggested. We didn't do the varicella or rota vaxes, but only because I didn't feel it was worth it. Even if you get the full blown chicken pox you can still get them again (Dad had shingles last year). Both girls have had the chicken pox now (thankfully before starting school and not during vacation time....YEA!). And Vilja has already had the Rotavirus, but we made it through. So if it comes our way again, we know what to look for. But I believe all the rest to be worth it. There is a measles epidemic here in Swissieland and Vilja got a mild case despite having the MMR, but I can remember getting the measles twice as a child (2 different strains) and it was he!!. She had it much easier with just a few blisters in her mouth and a mild fever; I was covered with spots!

As far as the Hep B goes, our vax schedule says 11-15 years old. This is not done in the hospital. But one thing our hospitals do before a newborn is released is a hip ultrasound which is not widely done as a standard procedure in the US. I don't understand this since hip dysplasia is almost 100% curable if it is caught at birth. Go figure, huh?

Now if they could only come up with a vax against whining and fighting amongst siblings!
