I'm surprised that we haven't read a very long, very detailed eulogy on the passing of Dwight "Mad Dog" White over the weekend. I don't know if he was a fan of Dennis Miller, but he was a great defensive end for those great Steeler teams of the 70's.

Also, Mr. "from the thrill of victory, to the agony of defeat" Jim McKay passed away. Most famous for being the host of Wide World of Sports, he also broke the news about the PLO kidnapping the 11 Israeli athletes and executing them. "They're all gone", was all he had to say.

I guess we're all headed for the same fate, but it just never feels good to hear about some of these icons passing away.

I too, was surprised that Keno didn't touch on this passing. He helped the steel curtain win a few Super Bowls.

Are there any sportscasters like Jim McKay or Chris Schenkel or even Pete Franklin anywhere anymore?

Jim McKay was a genuine consummate sportscaster who told it like it is and, if it was fun, his commentary (or lack therof) helped make it fun (and educational) for the viewer.

Maybe, just MAYBE Costas. He's awfully good. As is Al Michaels.
