Great article. Unfortunately the Bush propoganda machine have already instilled fear in so many americans. It's going to take years to dig back out.

We are going to see the same tactics by McCain, as he calls Obama "weak" and "inexperienced". And, the PAC groups will instill fear that he is a secret Muslim, here to get us all. Let's hope America is smart enough and doesn't fall for these buzz words again...

Military medical advances are keeping more soldiers alive in the Iraq War. If these same injuries occurred back in the 1940's, do you think they would have lived? You say, most were functional citizens in our society. You are right. They didn't suffer the traumatic brain injuries that thousands of our men and women have in the Iraq War. They also didn't see as many double or triple amputees.

Perhaps you need to go back and read that article a little closer. What I got out of it was that McCain didn't support it because he believed it would make more soldiers bolt the military instead of staying in. He stated in the article that he and some others are coming up with an alternative plan to not only offer the above but also include some incentives for soldiers who wish to stay in the military. They should also be rewarded for their work, don't you think? Seems like a fairly good plan to me. I was a veteran and I would've liked to have been given the opportunity to choose to stay in or get out with the rewards being the same. I'm all for giving soldiers more of a reward, along with better health care and a GIANT pay raise!!! God Bless America!!
