Lastest MP.Com article - I gotta disagree with some of the points on there. The band portions were as advertised but I gotta tell you I don't think Massillon got lucky in this game at all.
These boys earned this win. That was 4 quarters of football that luck had nothing to do with. It was talent, determination and stamina. The turn overs were caused our great defensive play.

I read these type of odd comments from time to time. When a good team beats Massillon, it’s expected. When we beat a good team, we’re lucky, or the opponent had an off night.

What else did we expect them to say . Massillon never gets props ..... We should be used to it by now . Guess we went to the State title game on luck last year:doh:

to say we were lucky to win can be looked at in a number of ways. I dont think its really a stretch to say that nor does it take away anything from the TIGERS.
we were lucky they didnt score on that muffed punt. (Our D was on!)
we were lucky they were dumb enough to try and score before half.
Good article, Good win.

One thing I agree with is at the end of the article... I said it as they were presenting the trophy.
"I could care less about that trophy... the only one I want is 11 weeks from now"

i like how he said that chandler appeared to have the game well in hand when we're only down 10 points with an entire second half to go. i think that's a little premature.

From the movie Under Siege II – “ Chance Favors the Prepared Mind”
If chance is luck, then I guess we were just better prepared.

I agree, it was talent and desire. did not need any luck

Of course our Tigers have desire and talent! We all KNOW that! IMO, every victory in every game is aided by a little luck. But to say they were "very lucky", is exaggerating. But our boys definately EARNED the win!
I also don't get the last paragraph's true sentiments, myself. First, it is stated that there should be no trophy, and then that Massillon should display it with pride! Which is it?
I personally like the trophy, can never have too many of them!

whenever any team wins, four factors come into play...
1 & 2. talent and desire of the players and the coaches involved
3. good hard play every down
and
(whatever anyone may want to say)...
4. luck does play a part...
a bounce one way...and a punt recovery goes all the way for a td...a field goal wide left in the last seconds of the game...a fumble recovery and a touchdown may be scored...getting that crucial first down or not...a tackle that ends up taking out your start quarterback (ask carson palmer) and the outcome of the game may totally change...
all...luck...
that is why every tick of the clock
every down that is played is vital
because you just never know...which play may be the winning (or losing) one

I think this was the biggest gift we could have been given on that night. Their coach was a little overzealous and went for the jugular before the half and all it did was get us within 3 points instead of 10, and give us all of the momentum. Sound football knowledge says that in thatei situation before the half, you kill the clock and go into the locker room up by 10 with our fans not a huge factor in the game.

Totally disagree. A trophy for WHAT? Winning one dang game in some useless classic that got us virtually nothing financially? It's like all Little Leaguers and all soccer players getting trophies no matter where they finish. The he!! with that. A true trophy of this classic would have been if all the teams played in a "tournament" and then the last team standing won. THAT would have deserved a trophy. Just my opinion.

I agree with ya CarlE! Glad to see ya didn't just focus on the soccer players..LOL. I also agree that the only way a trophy is awarded is in a tournament type format which would never happen.
Unless it is the state title, who cares?
