I spoke to the gentleman I referred to on a separate thread as ‘the Mentor guy’ here at work. Now, I knew that he would be going to the game and rooting for Mentor; he told me during an earlier conversation that his nephew plays on the team (receiver…last name <<name removed by BigTime>>> I can’t remember? Supposedly he is a starter).

At any rate, he spoke to this kid yesterday and asked how they thought they would fair again Massillon. Now I don’t know how accurate this quote is, but is what I was told verbatim.

“They (Massillon) are NOT Ignatius. They’re good and all but they are NOT St. Ignatius. We were more physical than they were last year and we’re better this year. We’ll take them. It might be close, but we’ll take them”

Again that may be a paraphrase since it is second hand information but that is apparently coming from a Mentor team member. My only retort was “We’ll see how it goes. It’s going to be a great game.”

Tigers go out and show these guys that his statement IS true. YOU are NOT St Ignatius. WE are MASSILLON!

GO TIGERS! MAUL MENTOR!

TC I just sent a text message to the captains and I wish I had his jersey number! he will in for a long night for that statement! However the 88 defense was the most physical 14.6 points a game allowed--hard nosed physical front seven that didnt give up nothing! Come on TC you helped prepare us!!

Obviously the kid was talking out his cavity.....

IMHO, this years team along with last years team has been the most
physical Tiger teams in decades!

Let the BASHING begin!

I removed the name references from the original post. I didn’t hear it directly, so I won’t make a specific inference. Let just assume it is a reflection of the attitude we may face tomorrow night. They are going to be ready.

This is exactly the type of stuff I would expect a player from mentor to say........

I've seen both Mentor and Massillon this season. The Tigers should win this game if they can avoid turnovers. Mentor is very strong with their front seven on defense, but their secondary is the weak point.

Ignatius didn't exactly have a lot of success passing against Mentor, but did enough to get the win. Ignatius ran the ball right at the bigger Mentor defensive line.

IMO, Mentor's best offensive weapon is WR #84 Brandon James. He's a nice player with good size. The Cardinals play well when their QB Tanksi plays well.

Mentor has some good players, but no one that can match up with Gamble on either side of the ball.

Massillon 24
Mentor 21

without turnovers

Massillon 24
Mentor 13

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I feel that we need to come out and smack them in the mouth right off the bat. They probably think since they beat an overrated Glenville team and hung with Iggy that they can hang with us. Let's face it, we played the FASTEST team that we will play all year last week and everything should look like slow motion to us this week. Take their wind early and it could get ugly!

Tigers eat cardinals for snacks.
A cardinal is just a little red chicken.
Now I am in the mood for BW's.

Is anyone really surprised that a Mentor player was saying that they will take us? Surely not. You think he was going to say they are totaly intimidated by us? Probably not. We're saying the same things down here that they are saying up there. This is just another in a long line of tough opponents for us and we have to go up there and smack them in the mouth!
Physical? These fine TIGERS will show them PHYSICAL!
GO TIGERS! SMASHMOUTH MENTOR!
