Just got off the phone with the Mentor AD about tailgating at the game. I called him earlier this morning and he was very gracious to call me back and answer some questions. He encouraged all of us to come up and have a good time in an orderly fashion. There is a parking lot right by the school and stadium where we can park up against a grass area and tailgate away. He was adament about one thing...NO ALCOHOL. He did say he's been in contact with their police department and was going to contact Hennon as well. I don't know if any of the tailgating crew had thoughts of that or not, but don't do it. Other than that, he wished us well and told us to expect some of their fans to mill around and check us out.
This Friday is a big deal up there. Let's head up, show them how we do things, and keep it respectful.

Well, good thing I'm not going to be there. Of course I could have been the sacrificial lamb to all you guys. I remember getting caught at Warren one year right outside the stadium. The police were gracious. Just made me dump in the garbage. Of course I had to clean up my own tears!!!

YES!! TigerBeat, ScottyOTC, and myself have enjoyed pre-game festivities at Hooters in years gone by. Speaking for the 3 of us:
3 thumbs up.
Hehehe.

Can someone translate this for me? I'm trying to understand why someone is calling Mentor classless for not promoting alcohol prior to a high school event.

The goal has always been to be up there tailgating before the Mentor kids get out of school. When I called Mentor they said the kids get out at 2:26. So we will be there by 2!

I think he's referring to the assumption that Massillon fans drink before football games. I don't know where he'd get that idea from.

I talk with a buddy of mine who works in downtown Cleveland and is a huge Tiger fan. He's got two co-workers who live in Mentor and they are actually planning to take a different route home on Friday because of all the activity going on around the school on gamenight. They both have said that this is the craziest they've seen people before a big game. Former students are coming home from college and everybody is going to be out.
This is a big time challenge for "the greatest show". We need to bring it in the parking lot, in the stands, and also on the field.
