Board’s not rushing super search this time

excerpts:
"Massillon Board of Education President Evan Hannon said that while time is a factor, the board believes there are several options on the table, even in terms of interim superintendents.
“We really want to take a good look at the candidates,” Hannon said, noting the board plans to take its time in the search. “We want to be sure we find the right candidate for the district.”

Although the search process has yet to take root, Blosser noted that the board has asked to meet with the Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) on May 28."

"There is a fee associated with the OSBA’s services and it fluctuates according to the types and amount of services used. According to district Treasurer Theresa Emmerling, past fees have been in the vicinity of $5,000.
LaSota said the OSBA costs are lower than what a private firm would charge for the same services."

You mean to tell me that this BOE cannot figure out how to advertise for and interview candidates without spending $5000 of the taxpayer's money?!

You would think Hannon and the rest of the Board would be embarrassed by the frequency of having to go through the hiring process for key personnel.

Not to mention the media coverage. I have no problem with making yourself look like a horses rear, but its something else when its covered by the media, out in public, and an embarassment to the school system. If you want to be a jackass go ahead as long as your not hurting anyone else. Me personally would like to see Blosser stay one more year or reconcider totally. If none of the formentioned are possible my first choice would be Chris Smith former band director.

For a group of people that really have "no idea" about how a board is supposed to run, how can they be expected to know what make's a good superintendent? Once they figure out that the superintendent is the one who is supposed to run the district, not the board, then things may get better.

How about finding a new board to hire the superintendent?
