View Full Version : You think gasoline prices are high?
The price of Gas versus Printer Ink
All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....
You will be really shocked by the last one!
(At least, I was...)
Compared with Gasoline......
Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
< /SPAN>
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 .. $10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 .........$9.52 per gallon
Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ... $10.17 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ......... $10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon
Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 .. . $25.42 per gallon
Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .$84.48 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER...
Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive)
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at...............
(you won't believe it....but it is true........)
$5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)
So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

I've seen similar comparisons before.....and they're all pretty idiotic. One was actually made by our supossed president, Mr. Bush. He basically said some months back, before becoming outraged at the price of gas, that "Hey, at least gas is cheaper than a gallon of milk". Since when do people bring home 15-20 gallons of milk each week or any thing else as described above for that matter? Very stupid comparisons and for anyone to say "yeah, I guess gas is cheap after all, is as stupid".

what about the price of blistex nowadays. Everybody is jumping off the rocking chair about gas prices, but the real problem in America is the price of blistex. Believe that. Once the price of blistex goes down gas will as well.

If you are complaining about the price of gas, then you have much bigger problems than the price of gas.....

Well sorry some of us dont have unlimited resources to not have to worry about fuel prices like you. Some of us have to put gasoline in trucks to keep our businesses alive and to put food on the table. Just think about putting 30 gallons in a pick up and having that last a day or 2.Thats damn near $600 a MONTH in gas. Along with rising fuel prices are rising food prices due to the shipping costs.

FUZZY MATH !!
$3.69 ist the cheapest gas in Massillon. It costs $ 110.70 to fill an empty 30 gallon tank. We'll say the gas lasts 2 days, ( although you said a DAY OR TWO ), that would be 15 fill-ups a month.
15 X $ 110.70 = $ 1660.50 per month to fill a 30 gallon tank, every 2 days !
It looked a whole lot better with the fuzzy math!

I could care less if other stuff cost more, but gas is what gets you to your job. If you don't have a job, then you really can't afford to live in a decent place.

Talk about misguided. We have all this technology to get off oil (wind, solar, nuclear, clean coal) but your answer is to have them drill more so the same guys can lower the price? Lol. Yeah, Exxon is that dumb.
What we have done to our dollar, artificial supply/demad (Wall Streeters), and the never ending war, had/have MUCH more impact.

I agree, Red50Go, and you guys weren't paying attention when I explained this concept about 2 months ago.
Listen good......WE DON"T HAVE AN OIL SHORTAGE PROBLEM, WE HAVE A REFINERY SHORTAGE.
By the way, the world's largest oil refinery is set to open soon in India.

Great point...again. We do have a refinery shortage. We have no new ones, but thats a little deceiving because we have added alot of new capacity to our existing ones. W/ all the billions coming in you'd think we could do more at those sights now. I guess it comes down to I dont trust Big Oil to do whats best for US, and are as big a bottleneck as anything else to energy independence. They are THRIVING in this environment - why change a thing?

Just heard that the Speedway coming out of Navarre is at $3.95.
Yikes....where will it end?
Here's a question. Some of you earn a really good salary, some average and some are barely getting by. At what price does it start really hurting your own individual pocket that you say enough is enough? (it has already hit mine). Just curious because to me, it is gettng really scary.

i think it's not just a matter of price, but others factors as well like driving distance and gas mileage. person a might not make as much as person b, but the gas prices may not affect person a as much b/c he/she may not drive as much as person b, or have a more fuel-efficient car.

O.K., let’s factor in all of that too. So, we have a fuel efficient car and have cut down on every possible extra mile by going the shortest way, making stops along the way to make our trips count, etc.
Now we get to the place where the prices are making us give up our “wants” or some of them. Not too bad yet. Then we have to start giving up our “needs” -- hard to make the house payment, car payment, utilities, buy groceries, buy medicines. Not good.
For some people like our seniors and people on fixed incomes, it is getting more and more difficult to just get from one day to the next. The hurt is already on.
Every time the gas goes up it claims a new group people who have to think about eliminating some of their “needs”.
Oh yeah…I forgot. It’s all going to get fixed in January 2009. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_29_117.gif

Think about it... Oil companies are making BILLIONS of dollars a year in profit. You think a company with that kind of cash flow will be stopped by green peace
?
They wont drill because they will get more oil into the market & prices will go down.:thanx:
Also, I don't think its the EPA thats stopping them.
