2008 Helmet information

Never did like that 'leaping' tiger. Would rather see Obio, or the paw print from the 80's.

I agree with you Kamd50. But since they're going with the leaping Tiger how about putting an orange stripe along with the black. Like the "98" or "88" helmets.

I like the white helmets much more. The leaping tiger IMO looks much more intimidating than Obie. We all talk about going back to the old days when we could go out and smack around any team that walked into PBTS. Yes I know the tradition with Obie and I like the Obie logo. But as another team standing on the sidelines. I'd be much more intimidated seeing those players run thru the smoke with tigers sprawled out across thier lids, compared to Obie who looks like a teddy bear compared to an actual tiger.

I'd like to see Obie maybe on the hips of the pants, chest logo, or possibly pride stickers. Have we ever worn pride stickers? I kinda remember them in the mid 90's if not mistaken. IMO that would look awesome with the leaping tiger and Obie pride stickers.

Every team in the country whose nickname is the Tigers has some form of intimidating Tiger on their helmets, but Obie is unique to Massillon and do you REALLY think that the logo on the helmet REALLY intimidates anyone?

OBIE is the only logo that is truely synonymous with MASSILLON. Any other logo does not immediately identify who we are. Our opponents will fear the name of Massillon, not what is on the players' helmets.

While Obie is, and should be, the symbol of the Massillon Tigers, the Flying Tiger was the original helmet insignia....and I really hope it stays that way.

The Strang leaping tiger is acceptable, but Obie is the Man! The strang leaping tiger looks majestic and powerfull. Tha thing we have seen the past couple of years tully is a federal league tiger.:hyper:

I trully believe, if you would poll ex players, the vast majority of us prefer the TRADITIONAL white helmets.

The Tigers new helmets look very good, now If there was a way to get my Alma mater to go back to the white helmets, with the leaping Panther. I do not like black helmets either and have seen enough of the "Purdue-P".

I was tired of wondering about the cost to RENT a logo when we could have generated something LOCALLY with all the artistic talent in Massillon (Junie Studer, former players and other alums).

I am partial to the leaping tiger...very historically cool!

I think its sad that so many people can make such a big deal over what color our helmets are. I mean come on. Does it really matter that much? Will it make our team that much better that we now have white helmets? Does it actually put fear in the other teams when we have a certain logo on our helmets? NO!! IT DOESNT!!! It's just a football helmet!
We need to pay less attention to the helemts and more attention the the kids wearing them.
They are the ones who will make us a good football team, and put fear into anyone we play.

It's called a topic. Nothing really going on with the season to come that we know of now. Better to talk about this now then when things get going. Things have been pretty quite as far as news goes, so it's nice to hear peoples opinions.

I agree with most of what you said......but are you saying you are OK with Massillon renting a logo from another team?

Why do we need to rent a logo when we allready have obie? What is wrong with obie? I bet at least half of the people who dont care for obie on the helmets has something with him on it at home. Obie is the face of Massillon! and he should be treated that way!

Glad to see those "bowling ball" helmets are gone. I'm partial to the white helmet with leaping tiger. I wore it in 1988 and my dad wore same thing on the 1959 team. Glad to see it back. Massillon is tradition and those traditions should never be changed so drasticly.
