Seems there has been several recent news stories about people dying as a result of tasering by police.. Did we jump the gun on this one folks ? I'm not going to get into wether or not police used it when there really wasn't a need. As far as individual confrontations, I wasn't there so I don't know. My issue here is ; should there even be tasering to begin with ? Any feedback on this one ?

No. Quit screwing around and use real guns with real bullets. Then we won't have to worry about having to ask this question. They're freaking CRIMINALS for God's sake.

That's the issue.. When it comes to tasering.. they're not all criminals..The guy from Cleveland was not a criminal, but HE WAS engaged in criminal activities, (confrontational with police)..I respect the fact that Police need to defend and protect themselves.. but at the expense of this guy loosing his life? I still believe that if someone, criminal or otherwise shows the intent of deadly force against a police officer, than so be it; HOWEVER; if its a physical fight with no deadly weapons present then what should the officers do? Taser ?? I say no!.. restraint, Yes !

Tasers are the best non-lethal option the police currently have at their disposal. Absent a taser, an officer's options are to 'club someone like a baby seal' with an asp baton or to shoot them. :ohno:

Furthermore, tasers have NEVER been found responsible for a person's death. The TASER Intl Co. has NEVER paid a claim resulting in a responsible death. You'll find that the majority of the deaths post taser use are the result of excited delirium or positional asphyxiation.

BTW, I have been tasered.. it's annoying but not harmful.

doom5oh..interesting stat's..I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Carle; My reference to this guy was the fact that he had no criminal background. I guess I was just being that damned bleeding heart liberal on this one.
