Mayor won’t pay sheriff without a fight
MASSILLON, OH — Mayor Frank Cicchinelli feels like a “toy-store clown,” and said Sheriff Timothy Swanson’s demand that Massillon and Alliance pay jail fees from 2003 unfairly targets the cities.
Since 2003, Swanson has sent Massillon and Alliance bills to house prisoners at the Stark County Jail. Swanson wants county commissioners to seek the $905,510 that has stacked up.
“I’m trying to collect,” Swanson said. “If I had that money, I wouldn’t have to lay people off.”
