I haven't seen much about Jason Hall putting together his new staff. Saw where he met with all current assistant coaches, but was wondering if he's announced anything or if this will have to wait under after the school year is over...

I think some are in a big hurry, this could take some time.
Any changes he wants on the staff will have to go through the BOE to be hired.
We might not hire too much until the names come out in one of the meetings.

Or Daryl, Daryl, or Daryl.....

What we're in DESPERATE need of is, a FULLTIME/CERTIFIED Weight, Speed, and Conditioning Coach.

I know an individual who has done an excellent job at Clemson, Southern Miss., and currently at Fla. Atlantic, who would love this opportunity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

i totally understand wanting to make the right decisions in coaching choices...

but,

time is getting shorter and shorter as our little ticker indicates each time we come to massillonproud.com

we need to get things in place soon, or the foundation for this fall's team is not going to there...and then, people will be doing some serious whining and complaining about how poorly the team is once again doing...this process does need to shift into higher gear...if we are going to have any chance at all of doing well this upcoming season...

it makes me wonder if some in the decision making positions truly want us to have success on the football field...or if they are trying to be self-defeating from the get-go...i think if coach stacy truly wanted what was best for his team, he would have made a decision to stay or leave much earlier...if the officials in charge of making a coaching choice truly wanted the best, they would have made him make a decision by the first of december...so, they could then put out feelers...and not seem like they were making a choice under pressure...taking what was left over...

i am not trying to be a pessimist here...just looking at things realistically...

we can't expect to leave things (getting the boys into shape, teaching them the new coach's battle plans, etc) to the last moments and then, expect this new coach to pull things out of his butt...and have a spectacular season...that is like cramming the night before an exam and expecting to get an A...miracles do happen...but, wouldn't it be better to have a stronger foundation????

just some thoughts from the peanut gallery over here...

Coach Hall has a big head start over what Shepas ( hired May 6th ) and Stacy ( June 5th) had when they started.

refresh my memory...how long before shepas had a successful season???
just looked it up...certainly wasn't his first one...shepas' first season was a 4-6 season...and we got beat by mckinley...

stacy inherited a fairly decent team from shepas...had a successful 1st season...and it was downhill after that...

and what has coach stacy left this new coach to work with??? or is it another "rebuilding" year...given the past two seasons...I would have preferred to have more time to get my team pulled together...

so, we need to really get on the ball, and quit saying "we need to take time"...the clock is ticking...tick...tick...tick

Again
Must of the coach that COULD coming are working somewhere else until the end of the school year. Don't be in such a hurry .

It may just be me but in the first year Shepas was here is made many bad moves and he didn't wake up till after week 6 or 7. He wouldn't have been 4 - 6 with Irwin at QB. That same first year Shepas wanted to replace Steve Studer, so was the team in bad shape when he came ? What about all the great coaches he hired. How many lasted only 1 to 2 years ?

I think that it is about time "we" all try letting the coach be the coach for a change and stop being meddlers as so many like to accuse others of being. He doesn't need us telling him what to do. Coach Hall knows far better than any of us how to run a football program and what needs to be done, how, and in what time-frame. As I understand it, he has been working with the young men, getting them into shape, and getting to know them; as well as letting them know what is expected of them athletically and academically, presenting this year's goals, etc. etc. etc. He appears to be on the ball with his new team and program and I commend him for it.

Everyone is jumping the gun on alot of things. Let's sit back and let COACH HALL tell us the gameplan for 2008 at the Spring Kickoff! I am not really worried about asst. coaches right now---Coach hall has talked to all current(last years) staff that remain and overall we had some knowledgeable coaches so we are in good shape either way to goes IMHO. The most important thing is that our players continue to work hard conditioning and lifting to prepare for the season and develop UNITY----if you play for Massillon and need a coach to tell you to get ready to bang out a great season than they are playing for the wrong damn school---PERIOD!!!!

The kids who aren't in spring sports are working hard on conditioning and spending time getting to know Coach Hall. They are lifting and working on speed training (plyometrics) and conditioning 4 days a week. The new coach is spending some quality time getting to know the kids. They'll be ready for the season. There are a couple other new coaches in the weight room but don't know any names.
