shocked to see there are no threads on the tribe, especially since the tribe is on pace to becoming the first team in mlb history to go undefeated.

it sucks being down here and not being able to watch the games on tv. instead i've got the reds. great.

anyway, go tribe!

I predict that the Tribe will go 158-4 this season. The only games they lose will be the 4 games in Tampa against the Devil Rays. At those games, there will be a drunk, loud, obnoxious person by the name of Carl sitting beside the dugout causing major distractions to the Indian players.:poke:

It's a long 162 game season. I don't mind if we lose one now and then. Just as long as it doesn't turn into a habit!

You all just hope Cleveland doesn't go soft like they did last year......hopefully they can learn a lesson on toughness from the peak Boston Red Sox, who had a bigger heart and tougher team than the Indians last year in the ALCS.

Haha do you ever have a nice thing to say about Cleveland Sports teams? I mean how many ppl honestly pictured the Tribe in the ALCS on the edge of a possible World Series birth.

pigskinmccarthy,

Cleveland did get soft from game 5-7. Boston manager Terry Francona knew that Eric Michael Wedge and his Indians would become soft late in the ALCS. Francona knew this. Boston had the bigger heart and the tougher baseball team!

For Cleveland, they have vowed to learn from this bitter taste of defeat and be an even better team this year. While there is no bad blood between the Red Sox and Indians...there is a lot of mutual respect between the players and management.

TC:

I am JACKED. Tonight at 7:05 is the home opener for the new, improved Rays. I'm right behind the first base dugout and plan on getting down there about 5:15 for the festivities. I'd be there now but my girls' school team has an indoor hitting practice today after school. YES, baseball is HERE!!! Go Rays. Uh, oh yeah. Go Tribe too, I guess!!

I know people will jump on me but all I can say is I TOLD YOU SO. C.C. is showing that last season was a fluke and he is returning to his old self. The indians signing Carmona is just them signing an insurance policy. I know its early but now at least maybe C.C. will realize he isn't worth as much money and sign for less.

I said the same thing you did, TigerDL71. I KNEW that lard-ass was going to be a bust this year. Oakland lit him up like a Christmas tree last night.

He may not be God but Boston manager Terry Francona once again knew Cleveland would soften up late AGAIN (like they did in the last three games of the ALCS). He knew Borowski would give up a home run late when he has a chance to close the game. Furthermore, he knows Cleveland is not a tough team in late innings of tight games (at least against his team).

Bottom line: Francona knows Cleveland inside and out. He has the Indians number. Not only are they competing against the Red Sox, but the mind of Mr. Francona as well.

Actually, turns out there was something wrong with him, which means he shouldn't have been pitching, NOT that Francono has the Tribe's number:notlistening:

npaflas,

Once again, the mind of Mr. Terry Jon Francona couldn't have been more genius. Jensen Lewis got soft and allowed two runs (one of those AGAIN a home run) and Boston got out of Cleveland with yet ANOTHER win!

Kamd50,

Venerable as you are...but don't deny TJF's mind. You know he knows Cleveland inside and out. He's faced them the last five times, winning all five in a row going back to game 5 of the American League Championship Series. And until the Indians get it together, they will still be the runner-up in the AL. Francona is baseball smart and you can't overlook that.

P.S. By the way, that's Francona...not Francono.

Just so you know...C.C.'s old self consists of 12 or more games won in the 7 full seasons he's pitched with 15 wins or more 3 times as well as an ERA of 3.60 or less 3 times...only a handful of pitchers have won more games over the same period...C.C. will be fine...and yes I hope he does return to his old self.

OTC, 12 or more wins is nothing to write home about. I can name you two members on the current Indians pitching staff that pitched at a consistenly higher level then C.C. Cliff Lee and Jake Westbrook were only one of 4 pitchers to win 14 or more games in 3 consecutive seasons from 2004 t0 2007. The other two pitchers weren't C.C. either ( Santana and Kenny Rodgers). In 2005 Cliff Lee lead the club with 18 wins and finished 4th in the cy young vote behind winner Colon, Mariano Rivera and then Santana. Last year was a fluke for C.C., Lee and westbrook on the pitching staff and this year all three of them are returning to form.

DL71...You're right on one account...C.C. is returning to his old self, in his last
5 starts his ERA 1.49 with 43 strike outs over 36 innings pitched

Last season was no fluke...it not how you start but how you finish

You won't be playing patsies like Oakland, Chicago, Toronto, and Minnesota forever. Get ready for reality to set in when you actually have to play somebody good from the AL East, or the Angels for that matter.

Patsies..O.K. they are still major league teams and anytime your starters have gone 43+ innings of scoreless ball...it's impressive..all this without their # 3 starter
