Wow. Congratulations Massillon. The game I saw last night was one of the best games I have ever seen, despite my team's loss. I loved the thrill. We all thot the game was ours during the first half. You guys came out of that locker room ready to change that.
I also admire your school spirit. I hate to say it but our school spirit isn't nearly that much. Even though our school is twice the size of Massillon (3100+ students), we dont have many die hard fans who would travel anywhere with the team. But you all should see a home game here in hamilton. We pack out our 5000-seater home stands with victory-thirsty fans and families. It's a site to see. My biggest hope is that some day a rematch can take place in OUR house. I KNOW that we can beat you guys if our team had the morale that yours does. And man... Paul Brown stadium is HUGE. Its bigger than all the community college stadiums here in AZ.
But my biggest thanks goes out to the fans (and pretty much everyone in Ohio). You all were so supportive of our marching band, even when we're not as "swingy" as yours. Our competitive "precision-marching" style is something we take very seriously, and we're known in Arizona for our top marching program. It felt amazing to stand up in front of all of the fans and not be booed away. (Yes, down here at big rivalry games, the other team's fans WILL boo the marching band.)
Again.... This was a great weekend. I experienced so much. And I got to see what TRUE football is like.
Haha. On a light note, now that you've seen what the BEST team in Arizona is like.... Imagine all the others. :-)
Our football team made MANY mistakes in the second half. And we payed for it with a huge L. But its one game in a season of 12. And we're still NOT going to lose more than two this season. I'll be willing to make a bet with anyone. :afro:
Have a wonderful week. Thanks again.

UberGeetar,
You're a class dude, just like the rest of your fans, team, band, etc.
I think you lost your only game of the season last night. You guys were much improved over the Red Mountian game. What an experience for alll of us - glad you got to go to Tigertown!
Go Huskies!
I hope you guys win State.

:-) That's the one thing we were trying to do. It works in AZ. If we can force the other team to lose focus with our volume in the stands, it helps out the players.
I will keep you all updated for sure. I'll post a weekly update and jazz like that concerning the Huskies and our opponents. The team to beat this year is our long time rival Chandler High School Wolves. They've been around since 1912 when AZ became a state. Chandler has never beaten us. This year they have already topped Brophy, who beat us 15-14 in last year's state game....
So that will be the game of the season I think. I look forward to keeping in touch with you all.
EDIT:
So which one of you all caught my attention after the game when the two bands finished playing post-game?

Thanks for the kind words. When I saw your school warming up, I knew it was going to be a war. You should be proud that you had that many fans make the long trip. We play teams close to us who don't bring half of what you did. I'd like to see future updates from you this season.

Massillon is a first-rate, first-class city that always welcome people like you with open arms. Their media relations (I know a thing or two about media relations) is the best out of any other high school in Stark County if not all of Ohio!
Chandler Hamilton Huskies are a very good team that will put up big numbers. Best wishes to your pack of Huskies for a successful season and a state championship.

We really enjoyed having you here. Your team, fans and band are a “CLASS ACT” all the way.
That is one of the fastest teams I have ever seen and your quarterback and receivers -- fantastic!
The band show was great with their sound and marching -- during and after. Hope they had fun.
It was everything and more that we thought it would be.
Hey, and going to Arizona to play you?---- Sign me up…
Hope the Huskies have a really great year and win in all in Arizona!!

UG, I reckon you earned the respect of every Massillon and OH fan, to the man. Wow what a team, and what a game! Definitely worthy of the national ranking. I wish I could watch you guys play more. Til then, the memories on this end will last a looooong time, believe me. Thanks & Congrats!
Btw, I have no doubt the electric atmosphere, the 12th man (our fans), our home stadium, not to mention your travel, played a key role in this game. Just want you to know we fully recognize that, even though you, nor your fans, used that as an excuse. First class all the way.

Your kids really came to play. When Taylor took that pass to the house on your first offensive play, I could not believe the speed. We are generally recognized as having some of the best athletes in the state with pretty good team speed, but that was something that we rarely see. I saw Ted Ginn play a few times in high school and what I saw Saturday night was pretty close to that. Taylor will be a beast at ASU.
Your players have nothing to hang their heads about. There are many times where Ohio football fans look down at out of state teams because of the level of play, but most of us left the stadium knowing that if Hamilton played an Ohio schedule, they would be a force to contend with. We like to think we know good football when we see it and most Tiger fans would tell you that you've earned our respect. You also have probably made some fans out of us too. Good luck with the reason of your season and win another AZ state title!

What a good game! The Huskies are an elite team and would be a top 10 team in DI Ohio! It was good to see our kids play against some unknown top talent and see what we had! I hope the two schools can figure out a contract to play again in the future! We would have to play at ASU or something because our fans would drive to Arizona to watch our tigers! The huskies were physical and fast-- we have not seen speed like that from a WR since Mario Manningham (U. of Michigan)and Anthony Gonzalez(Ohio State) and you see what they are doing at the next level! Taylor is a good one!

UBERGEETAR...
I want to say Thank you for all the kind words. As you can see by all of the posts, Massillon is greatful to you and your program for making the trip. It couldn't have been an easy decition to make. We are very proud of our tradition, school, band and football team. It was a pleasure to have shared it with a "CLASSY" orginization like Hamilton. Many of us (I'm sure) would love a rematch in AZ. I know I would!
BEST OF LUCK AND WE HOPE YOU CONTINUE YOUR SUCCESS!!!!

Thanks for the post. Your a class act and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in TigerTown. Your team was awesome!

Boy I tell you. We were everywhere about this today in school. Kids claiming the officials were payed (i immediately refuted this with the fact that they we'rent even from ohio. they were appointed by ESPN if im thinkin right), and all sorts of other excuses, etc. etc.
All i can say, and many of my friends agree: our coaching staff still needs a little work. Poor decisions.
But again, as I said before. This was the BEST loss we have ever had. (Haha. Which isn't saying much, considering we've only lost 13 games in our 8 year history, saturday being out 13th) I absolutely loved watching that game.
And agreeing with the paper, it was mostly Hamilton's mistakes combined with Massillon's endless energy that killed us.
It always is our mistakes that kill us.
Anyways, I'll start a thread as soon as the updated State rankings come in (late tonight or tomorrow i believe). Ill give my predictions (based on past seasons and current details) and scores from our Class.
We play 5A-I football, which is basically your division I. Our classes are judged by school size. 5A-I is 2700+ 5A-II is 2400-2700 4A-I is 2100-2400 4A-II is 1800-2100 and so on...
Last I heard we are 2nd in the state as of this weekend, behind the only remaining undefeated school and our long-time rival Chandler High School Wolves.
Thank you for all the kind words! You have a great footbal team and a great band. You deserved the graditude shown by the Massillon faithful! Hope you enjoyed your stay down here and I want to wish your team and your band the best of luck!
Chap.

Awesome team, band and fans!
I'd like to take a second to say I'm sorry for the idiot Tiger "fans" we had sitting behind us that booed the Huskies and started the "Overrated" chant several times.
These "fans" DO NOT represent the real Tigers fans as a whole, and I truly apologize.
They obviously were not in Cinn. the week before to hear that same chant directed at our boys, and see how bad that sucks!
I guess every team has it's share of idiots, I just wish I'd have sat somewhere else.
That being said you folks have an incredible team, band and fan base, and I wish you all the luck in the world!

Is Chandler your last game of the year ???
Yes, Chandler is always the last team we play each season before the playoffs. Its a wild atmosphere. With playoff spots on the line, the fans are extra crazy, and I do believe all sportsmanship is thrown down the drain.
However the classic football matchup never fails Hamilton. And I doubt we will lose this year as well. Chandler has 16 offensive plays and our D knows ever single one. :cool2:
I guess I shouldnt get TOO cocky... The rivalry just gets my blood pumpin i guess... heh.
How are the teams determined to go to the playoffs in AZ. In Ohio we have computer rankings that determine the playoff participants.

Here in AZ we have a Power Points system.
Im not extremely sure of how it works, but I will look it up.
Basically, from what i know, teams get points. A certain amount of points for a win, and some points for a loss, teams never lose points. Just get more for a win than a loss. The points, as far as i believe, are determined on how good the teams playing are.
Facing you guys, we got a significant amount of power points, even for a loss, because of the difficulty of the game. For games such as Paradise Valley, we dont get many points for a win because of the easy win.
Anyways... Its based on team skill vs. opponents skill and stuff.... I'll look into it.
But the top 16 teams in power points move on to the finals.
Higher ranks get home field advantage UNLESS the lower rank was region champion of its region. Its complicated, but when we get there I'll explain. Ill make sure to look into it.

I found this great article in Chandler Republic, our local portion of the AZ Republic. Read it. Its awesome. :)
http://www.azcentral.com/community/chandler/articles/0920cr-hamiltontrip0920Z6.html
I sure hope its right. Is AZ football on the map now?
Tomorrow night is our first home game against Phoenix Marcos De Niza. It should be an interesting game, these guys are rough-playing, and they've won every game they've played so far (against smaller schools, however. Two of the three teams they beat were from 5A-II, and, judging by the opponents' scores, their defense is weak. Marcos' average is 34 points per game. (again, against smaller teams)
Also, our home environment is much like your home environment; we pack out our 5000-seat home stands with die hard fans, so we will have the support factor.
Anyone wanna wager scores with me?
I have 35-7 Hamilton.
EDIT: I will open my new thread tomorrow after the football game. Yes, its a thursday night game because it's going to be televised.
