I heard Stacy on WHBC saturday morning. While he said he respects Shepas,He claims that he left the football program in better shape than it was when he came here.

I think he's full of shamrocks! He completely disassembled the middle school program and there is no discipline there. The freaking Principal out there runs the program. I've always said that you need very tough, very disciplined coaches at the middle school level.
He also took away the advanced strength & conditioning program, and it showed on the field. Not to mention, the discpline and respect from the players was lost. He set the program back a few years IMO.

Him saying that actually pisses me off.

I can certainly see why, and I am not a Shepas fan.
What I'm wondering is what did he say exactly?
There may be some things that are better now than they were then.
For instance, the "program" certainly has a better idea of what kind of coach we don't want.
Plus---the turf is in better shape.
Maybe the equipment in the weight room is cleaner?

Shepas left the program in far better shape than Stacy. Stacey went to the tile game with sheps kids. Shep had much better discipline than Stacy. And Shep did not have that stupid travel squad that cost him his relationship with darn near the whole team? There were several coaches as well as Senior players that questioned that blunder publicly and there were about thirteen players that quit over it including JV starters?

First of all, that's not what he said in context.
Second, the program as a whole is in a better place than it was 4 years ago on a number of levels, ones not obvious to most.

In addition, I think our trash collection system is in better shape along with our abilities to keep the phone lines open (for that Fed call to come in). Also, not much gas or video equipment was used up over the past couple years to assess strengths/weaknesses of opponents (or ourselves). Finally, the "timeout corner" is pristine and in great shape for future disciplinary use.:wall:

Well, Einstein what DID he say "in context". And please enlighten us plebes with what levels the program is in better shape from. Because we KNOW it isn't talent.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree. I heard the interview. I know I was still nursing my first cup of coffee, but I don't recall Shepas name coming up. Stacy just felt he left the program in good shape.

Thanks Butler.
On that note, we are done with this subject.
If someone can PM a transcript of the show that details what was said, I will consider re-opening it.
Otherwise...WE ARE TRYING TO MOVE ON!
