I am looking for a Linksys WRT54G Wireless G-ROUTER... Particularly one that is v4.0 or under.

If you have one of these and are willing to sell, PLEASE LET ME KNOW...

Check your serial number and if it starts with one of the following...

CDF0 = WRT54G v1.0
CDF1 = WRT54G v1.0
CDF2 = WRT54G v1.1
CDF3 = WRT54G v1.1
CDF5 = WRT54G v2.0
CDF7 = WRT54G v2.2
CDF8 = WRT54G v3.0
CDF9 = WRT54G v3.1
CDFA = WRT54G v4.0

They sell for $50 new, so probably $25 or so, based on if it's between a version 1 and version 4 firmware.

They say what version right on the bottom. or else I can tell by the serial number.

Why this particular model ????

Mine is a LYNKSYS Wireless-G speedbooster, WRT54GS serial number CGN10D606463.

Is this supposed to be good ???

A WRT54GS serial number CGN1 would actually be better than what I was asking for based on the fact that it is a version 1, with about the most memory that any linksys router has. It has 32 Meg rom and 8 Meg Flash ram.

Why the particular models, and version numbers? For their ability to run third party software. Linksys, until they were bought by router giant cisco, was based on a linux core that is based on open standard software. It's larger memory meant it was able to load third party programs like a full blown linux. It's like you can run a mini version of a pc.

I know I'm geeky, but this shows just how much. LOL
