I know I thought they needed KG to make it back to playoff success but they are playing great basketball. With or Without the KG trade people on this site said they would be a .500 team and I laughed!! What are posters thinking now?? 41-17 and in the #1 spot out West, Kobe averaging 29 a game on 20 attempts while they are 10-1 since the Pau Gasol trade and 32-9 since the the 1st month of the season.

Kobe is still the best player in the NBA!!!

mtown19,

Sorry to rock your boat but the Western Conference goes through the physical and powerful San Antonio Spurs. They are the champions until otherwise.

Los Angeles has a way to go before they can assume control of the West again. If the playoffs were to start, as the top-seed, they would at best face Golden State in the opening round but I think they would exit in the semifinals losing to Phoenix. Sure they have won three of the four regular season meetings but Phoenix has their number in the playoffs.

Don't get too high on Jack Nicholson's favorite team. And watch for Detroit in the East!

Kobe is averaging just under 28 a game(27.7).

Lebron took over the title "Best player in the NBA" this year.

You quoting stats? Kobe led the NBA in scoring for a few years and didn't win MVP! However, Kobe's defense (7 timeall NBA) and better jump shot puts him ahead of LBJ and we will not talk about LBJ's 69% free throw average compared to 88% for Kobe.

LBJ is improving and is a solid #2 but Kobe is the next best thing to Mr. Jordan in bball! Just look how he changed the World Championships in our favor. Sunday Kobe put up 52 points 11 boards, and 5 assists agains J. Kidd and Dallas and really Kobe would average 35-40 a game playing against the East teams4 times a year compared to the Western Conference.

Kobe has never won the MVP because he has never been the best player in a season. Kind of hard to compare him to Jordan. Thats what all the Kobe front runners like to do, compare him to Jordan. Well sorry but he isnt. Lebron James is Lebron James and Kobe is "the next best thing to Mr.Jordan".

I dont wanna hear that West is better than the East propaganda either. The Cavs, with Lebron James, have consistently played well gainst the west(in the regular season).

Also, Why couldnt Kobe win without someone complimenting him? Lebron can carry a franchise/city on his BACK and still win. Kobe needs help IE: Shaq, Bynum, Gasol.

Lebron>Kobe

you dont want to hear the west is better than the east because its true. carrying a team in the playoffs in the east is a little different than doing it the west.

Who's doing it?

Who, if anybody, is doing what Lebron James is doing?!

Nobody.

Yes there are better teams in the Western Confrence. But the King Lives in the East.

Lebron goes for 50,8, and 10 tonight. He didnt need an overtime to pump up his boards and assists either.

But they played a team from the east, so I guess it doesnt matter.

Wow! That was a great...ummm.....arguement? You really got me there.

They just led Sportscenter with "You have got to see what Lebron James did tonight! Something that hasnt been done since 1959..."

The NBA is the NBA.

Again, fantastic arguement.

The problem is fans who dont appreciate 50 freaking points! 2 1/2 years he will be gone and the Cavs will SUCK just like they used to. You dont even have to be a fan of Cleveland. 50 points bro, cmon already. Get your head out of that bowl.

Funny because the Cavs wouldn't even be in the playoffs in the West. No comparison at all between conferences.

Kobe is the best player in the league and has been for 4/5 years now. LBJ is taking over 30 shots a game compared to around 20 for Kobe with a 1.5 ppg average. 69% to 88% in free throw percentage and not to mention the superior jump shot.

As far as the Cavs are concerned---please do not discount the roles of AV, Gibson(20 a game in the playoffs), and Hughes defense which they miss. Beat the Knicks and then lose to Chicago the following day. Boston will destroy them in the playoffs. They should of traded for J. Kidd to take some pressure off LBJ on offense but they just got a even swap!!!

As for Jordan/Kobe comparisons-----noone can be Mike but Kobe is the closest we will ever get to him on the bball court.

No, you are wrong. Lebron takes 2 more shots per game on average. He also has a higher FG%. Yes Kobe has a better jump shot, but I like how Lebron can beast up inside then take his game outside. Kobe is a skinny little girl compared to James.

I havent even mentioned character issues. I refuse to route for a cheating rapist.

Prove that.

Lebron has better fg %, 2 more rebounds per game, 2 more assists per game, 1/2 a block more, and 2.5 more points per game. They are equal in steals.

The only edge Kobe has is free throws.

The West may be a tougher conference, but Kobe has a better team than Lebron. Time to face that facts that Lebron has passed Kobe.

The last 4/5 seasons Kobe led in the same categories but you same posters said he was not the best player in the league then but now he is leading the best team in the NBA.

I stand corrected about shot attempts--- 10 more shots a game the last 10 or so games. Kobe is better right now IMO

Honestly I don't think there is really a wrong answer at this point. They had this debate on the Sports Reporters the other day. They are pretty equal overall.

Personally I would take Lebron, but most of us on here are biased towards him.

I called Kobe a team killer on here earlier, I have to eat my words a bit, as he is definitely playing a team oriented game now. I am definitely biased toward Lebron, but Kobe is definitely making a case for MVP, as is LBJ.

IMO, it's too close to call, and the next few weeks will most likely tell the tale....

The Lakers look awful tough right now, but I'm a HOMER man!!!! Gotta go with the hometeam guy!!!
