The first time any beagle has won the Westminster Dog Show!

Wonder how many beagle puppies will be welcomed into Massillon homes now?!

I was so happy for Uno. He was one pretty Beagle. He made Snoopy proud.
And…that Beagle howl he gave -- priceless.

The Australian Shepherd was a beautiful dog too, but there was just something “special” about Mr. Uno.

As a past Beagle owner I just had to pull for him. Although I’ve also had a Weimaraner, English Pointer, Field Spaniel and now my dog is mostly Siberian Husky.

Watching the Westminster is great fun!

Hopefully people will do some research before they get a beagle puppy. They need to make sure the "hound group" is what they really want. They are very cute but........ my first dog after I was married was a beagle and although I loved him dearly, I would never have another one. That was long before cages were popular. He tore up everything--curtains, furniture, carpet, purses, wastebaskets. I had to get him a babysitter so my husband and I could go out for the evening. He never was 100% housebroken. He was way more work(and headaches) than the 3 shelties I have now.

in all fairness, though, all dog breeds have good and bad examples. i have a two friends who have beagles and they've had no problems with them. i think it's really the luck of the draw. you can either get a great dog or a problematic dog.

LOL, I LOVE all dog breeds as well as the good old mutts. But....., I also had a neighbor who had 3 beagles and to say that they were a handful was an understatement. Between the destruction and howling, they rarely got a moment's rest. However, I believe part of the problem with them as with many dog owners, was that the environment didn't necessarily suite the breed of dog.

And I do agree with you, SB, about good and bad examples of all breeds. My oldest son had a pitbull that was the most loving, playful, harmless dog you would ever want to meet. But just the name of the breed scared people off from it. It has an awful lot to do with how you raise and care for them.

As they said several times last night, "there are no bad dogs, just bad owners".

Congrats to Uno! Anything but a poodle would have been fine with me.
