I would really like to now what has to be done around this town to get people concearned about what is happening down at those little league fields. This is still about the kids and i now it is not football but I have pulled my children from that league due to the coruption but it does not mean that i am not still concearned. if u dont now what i am talking about read my past threads. Now i hear since i last posted things are even worse. this makes me sick for the children and the sponsores.

And where did you take your children when you pulled them from Little League.

This is a good question, along with what others are asking about specifics. I don't believe there are any alternatives until they reach the age to play Hot Stove; which is what our boys did.
I don't know that I would deprive my kids from playing summer ball because of some adult politics or w/e it is that is going on. You have got to weigh the pros and cons when it comes to what benefits your kids. What they gain from the experience is invaluable, imo. They learn everything from what it's like to be a part of a team, what it means to practice hard everyday for something that they want to succeed at, the friendships, teamwork, as well as learning how to handle defeats as well as the victories. But most importantly, the sheer fun of playing baseball in the summertime, for the parents and child alike. There is nothing sweeter than seeing the joy it brings to your kid when they prove to themselves that they can do it; whether that means just getting on base, stealing a base, or just having a good eye to get on base with a walk. To me, there is nothing quite like baseball to build a kid's individual self esteem and confidence.

Actually there are a LOT of alternatives down here, that's why I asked. Dizzy Dean is making SERIOUS inroads into Little League and I'm just trying to figure a way to combat it. I've even been on the phone with Williamsport once over the issue.

What are the alternatives? Since we have been out of that age bracket for a few years, I am not aware of any.

I could not agree more. I would never deprive my children of any sport. they are playing in hot stove and stark summit. alot of travaling but last year with one my sons playing travel ball the crazy sceduale was less stress than going to those little league fields with the rampid polotics and watching all the curruption due to a few people that get away with whatever they want. Yes I and my children are out of there but when i reacently found out that a known criminal and the root of most problems down there is now president it made me sick. How good people are constantly beeing forced out and this can happen is just beyond me. I fought the good fight i tryed to help and change things along with a couple of other caring people but there is only so much a few can do when no one in a power position or not enought people stand up. Like I said earlyer I may be gone but that is still supposed to be a league for the children, I will always care what happens down there and about all the children of massillon not just my own. I wright these messages in hopes that someone involved in that league will say enough is enough.

Your posts are starting to border on irresponsible, and sounding like someone who has an axe to grind. Is it really necessary for you to repeatedly state that the president is a "known criminal?" Also, your lack of grammar also leads me to believe that you may be a very young person, or the worst speller ever.
I am not now involved with Little League in Massillon, but have been on the board, and am aware of a few people who have had minor scrapes with the law, "allegedly", and also know for a fact that some of the rumors were vicious and incorrect. I hope you have fact to back up what you are saying, or I would advise you to back off a bit. Little League is a great experience in Massillon, and sometimes it becomes a problem when parents get in the way. If you are no longer a part of Little League, you may not know as much as you THINK you do. What do you hope to gain???

Being a member of TASO (Texas Athletic Sports Officials) I can truly say that I enjoy calling younger kids more than high school kids. But here lies the problem. Summer ball is either refeered to as "Mommy" ball or "Daddy" ball and neither one is good for the kids. There is nothing worse than coaches or parents who do not know the game of baseball or the rules. Either way, it ruins it for the kids. I have "run" (thrown out) parents who disrupt the game and take the fun out of it. Last year I had the president of the league tell me, you cant run me, I run this league. At this point, I told him for the rest of the evening his a-- would be running it from his living room. There are alternatives to Little League. Select ball, Dixie, independant leagues etc. I hope you find the one who presents the most fun for your kid.

Playing for me and winning seems to be fun. Let the games begin.

B-Ball-101 : It's freezing cold outside, there is snow on the ground and most kids are still playing basketball. (your kids play at the YMCA, so you must not like the boys & girls club either.)There is nothing going on down at Little League fields. We all "KNOW" that you don't like little league and it's new president. You should be grinding your AX against the Massillon City Schools English department "CONCERNING" your lack of grammar skills. The "known criminal" that you speak of, cuts the grass, drags the fields, lines the fields and 90% of everything else that needs done down at the fields. Maybe he is doing his community service to work off all of his prior mistakes. The league president doesn't handle the money, he is not the new treasurer. The only thing he handles is a rake, drag, and tractor. I'm a "SPONSOR" and I don't think the league is "CORRUPT". I'm "WRITING" this post because "enough is enough!"

From my experience with little league as a board member and past president it is sometimes hard to tell who are the adults and who are the children

Criminal Records are public record. Rather than spread rumors based on allegations, do some checking and find out for yourself if someone in fact is a "Known Criminal". Heck, it's online so you can stay all cozy indoors while ya do it!

It's happening all over the country. In fact, I had to get back on the board down here to re-recruit some of the kids that had committed to another league, Dizzy Dean. I ended up going to war with some knucklehead and keeping most of our kids. Recruited some additional ones so the net loss didn't have any impact on us. Had opening day parade and ceremonies Saturday and it was a HUGE success.
