Woman who caged son guilty
Former Akron resident to be sentenced in Fla.
Excerpt:
JACKSONVILLE, FLA.: A former Akron woman faces up to 20 years in prison for keeping her 17-year-old adopted son caged in her home in Jacksonville, Fla.
The teen, who has developmental disabilities, was one of four whom Brenda Sullivan, formerly Brenda Priester, adopted through Stark County Job and Family Services between 1993 and 1996. .................
The teen weighed 49 pounds when Jacksonville, Fla., child welfare workers discovered him in what appeared to be a cage and accused Sullivan of starving him.
The bed was later modified to include a wooden top, chains and locks, according to published reports. "
This is one of the most tragic stories I have ever read. This reads like something straight out of Stephen King. Absolutely tragic. I can only believe that God has a special place in Heaven for these children who are not only victims of their birth parents addictions, but their foster parents as well.
