Berkeley -- still at it after all these years.
And…just who do they think gave them the “right and freedom” to protest???
Hmmmm??? Maybe the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force……
Any thoughts on this??

I think it's crap!!! See how they feel when our Marines stop protecting them and we are open to attacks. I wonder what they would think if we had no protection and they could be attacked at anytime, would they be asking for help??? You bet they would, typical liberal way of thinking.

Now bite your tongue!!! I'm a Democrat and this is my thought on the issue. Now tell me if it's liberal thinking. Take the money back. Tell Berkley that if they don't like having the federal government around then let’s take all of the freedoms and rights they enjoy that the armed forces have given them and see if they support them then.
Stupidity crosses both lines and does not know the difference between liberal or conservative.

our founding fathers gave them the right to protest.
i DEFINITELY don't agree with what they're doing, but the fact that they have the right to do this is what makes our country so great..............even when the things that are done aren't so great.
this is a really odd situation, as you touched on. it's reminds me of when african americans fought for the freedom of a country that didn't exactly consider them "free."

I agree with their right to protest, but have a real hard time with people who, agree with the war or not, saying negative things about those who risk their lives to help make our (and the protestors) lives more comfortable. Like the administration or not, the Marines are here to protect the people of the USA, so they shouldn't be taking it out on them, in my eyes.

I do agree with our founding fathers giving them the right to protest. But, they had to fight militarily too to for our freedoms. Should have said our military now is helping to “preserve” those freedoms.
I guess I get real touchy when people protest the Marines and other branches of the service…since those very near and dear to me have fought in wars past and present.

People have the right to protest
Marines have the obligation to protect this country
So there for the Marines must ambush these people and kill them all

i agree and feel the same way. our country is great b/c we have the right to protest if we want to. at the same time, however, it's sad to see people exercise that right in such a bad way. it's even more sad to see people exercising that right to protest people who have given their lives to make sure that we continue to have the rights we are privileged to have.

Its just amazing to me that the city council is so involved. Apparently none of them have a family member serving in the armed forces. I believe in the right to protest and speak your mind, but when the local government gets involved in something they should stay neutral on, well thats just sad.
Do recruiters still make those unbelievable promises that they never keep (I am thinking back to Pvt. Benjamin and the condos!)? I thought that was a thing of the past. Isn't it pretty much common knowledge that their are still some serious holes in how the military takes care of their own? That's not just a problem seen in the US. I hear alot of the same coming from the UK.
It really is sad to see them protest, especially since my nephew is a marine and will be returning to Iraq in 3 weeks, but like previous posters said, its their right. I guess we can be thankful they aren't picketing funerals!

I thought I heard something about Perrysburg and some kind of training activity. Will have to check that out further.

Now Toledo is telling the Marines they are not welcome there to come and train. What amazes me is that the freaking marines would WANT to go to that freaking cesspool in that freaking cesspool section of the state. And hell, didn't we give Toledo to Michigan ANYWAY? So who really cares.

When you're right, your right! And if it hasn't been done, then it should be done immediately!
IDK, when I talked to my nephew last week he had just gotten in from training in the California desert. Said that it was the closest they could get to conditioning for Iraq (cold, sandy...SPIDERS!). I guess some areas of Toledo could be comparable to some of the pitiful places in Iraq? :jestera:
