I would like to know how ripping Stacy's coaching here in Massillon on this forum for ALL to see is promoting Massillon's athletics? Seems to me people are doing more damage, then helping the program. These are the issues that should be brought in front of the board and get answered there not on this forum, where many are using this to turn their own rumor-mill!

How do you know the school board members aren't on this site? Also, how do you know that they haven't been contacted?

You could be correct! I have only contacted 2 members and they have told me that most of these comments that I faxed to them from here HAS NOT been stated at a meeting and there are agendas and minutes to be viewed. So I was going out on a limb that since 2 members have not heard these views, they have not been stated at a meeting.

Your point exactly? The BOE is never going to tell you who is pulling the stings around here anyway. We have the right to point out any flaws, mishandling, and misjudgments concerning our kids and the Massillon Tigers. My kids and family members deserve the best quality coaching in Ohio playing for Massillon and the last 2 years that has not happened on all levels of the program. Any coach coming to Massillon or McKinley will have to stand up and walk through the fire!! If you cannot take the heat get out of the kitchen. Stacy knew this was not Akron, Ashland, or Shelby when he was hired.
BTW---I personally like Coach Stacy and if he had plans to stay I would support him. However, if that would happen he would have to clean up his house rather quickly. We cannot stand for non disciplined players, off the field craziness, and another 6-4 squad with the talent we have!!

Has nothing to do with who is pulling strings??????
Has everything to do with yourself, your kids, and your family members deserving the best. That will be accomplished more by going to the room that makes those decisions, not to this forum that will not make ANY decision
:2thumbsup: We all need to show support for the coach that is in place, and at that this time it is Coach Stacy.

May I ask if you are planning on driving up from Cinci to attend, 2000? Not saying that I agree or disagree, just wondering if that is your intention as you have stated in the past that is where you are residing.
Also, I would remind you that you made this post when it came to another poster wanting to ban or boycott another's because of their disapproval of that particular posters negative comments. You posted on 8-28 -07:
"I would hope we would allow different opinions to be stated on here. Otherwise why have a site to go into and have discussions?"
Also, this is the existing rule when it comes to posting about the season, coaches, etc.:
9. No Negative Threads or Posts During the Season (Infraction Value: 2 points, which will expire after 90 days.)
The goal of the forums is clearly stated to be "for the promotion of Massillon Sports". Please refrain from openly negative and/or critical comments until after the season. This includes all the groups involved i.e. the team, coaches, event staff, band, cheerleaders etc.
The only thing we ask that posters express themselves in a respectable, adult-like manner, whether we, you, or other posters agree with them or not.

No coach - past, present or future - can be held accountable for "off-field craziness". You are sadly mistaken to think that every kid is going to behave 100% of the time. Some kids are way more self-centered than to think of how their behavior might affect others. Does Stacy get the credit for every kid that behaved or made the Honor Roll?
And this "Stacy lost control of the team" is a bunch of overblown crap IMO. What's your proof? A kid threw a helmet? Big deal.
Here's my proof he didn't: the team was 2-4 and sinking fast from all the negativity brought to the program by negative parents and boosters. Stacy and his staff rallied the team, pulled us together, found who wanted to still play, and led the team to 4 straight victories, including the finale over McK. For them to finish this season, with this team, with 4 straight wins - I would say it's hardly the results of "losing control".
If the season had ended at 2-8 (like some on here predicted), then you could say he lost the team. But no way did he lose control of this team and win the last four games. Not possible.

Yea, I guess you could drive up to a board meeting, but if I was a BOE member in Massillon, your comments and opinions wouldn't matter two hoots to me.
I know that there is this great hundred year old history and legacy surrounding the Tiger Football program, and yes, I know alumni from all over support the program in many ways.
But, the BOE represents the tax paying property owners in Massillon, and hopefully they are the advocates of the present and future students and their parents.
How do you know that they are not doing what they feel is best for the people that they were voted to represent?
That may not be what the Greater Massillon Fan Community wants, but in the end, they don't represent that group, nor are they charged to represent them.

Yep. Those last four games really turned the season around.
Buchtel...2-8
WGH.......4-6
Western Hills...1-9
McKinley 3-7
When you have a front loaded season, the coach better have the team ready in August. If not, the season will be over by October. By the seventh game there was no season left to turn around.
Perhaps a more enlightening way of looking at things is that in our last six games vs winning teams, we are 1-5. That one was against a D5 school.

Stacy did lose control of the team--discipline, throwing helmets, of the field problems that he ignored, not shaking hands after losses, etc,.... if that is not losing control of the team then you please tell us what he did control this past season?

Well, if kids are punished in a matter that will keep them from playing, and they love the game, they'll think twice about doing this. You hold that kid accountable by benching them and sending a message that this stuff isn't going to happen. I'm sorry but there was no control of this team this past year or the end of last year. Monte hit the nail on the head with his comment about kids throwing helmets and getting away with it. And please don't try to make the season better by those last 4 games. We should have blown every team out and didn't.

You'd think that the kids were fighting and throwing helmets around every game the way you guys talk. Are you making it up as you go along? I think there was 1 incident of each infraction. I'm sure that stuff doesn't happen anywhere else though. If there is a new coach, he's going to deal with all the same stuff. It goes on everywhere.

Is the coach supposed to go home with the kids after football to make sure they're not doing anything wrong Monte? Off field problems are not the coaches fault! Is he supposed to go knock on someone's door if they don't show up for practice? I know of a certain D1 player that had to be dragged to school and practice every day so he could play on Friday. His friends took care of him because he wasn't self motivated. Got a D1 scholarship and rarely went to class. If his friends wouldn't have done that, is it the coach's responsibility? That's just crazy.

Well I can think of at least 2 times, and that's 2- too many! Your helmet has your logo on it and that is something you should take pride in. Don't throw it down!!!! I would have loved to have seen this happen when Coach Stu was around, and see what happened. I don't care what happens at other schools, I care about Massillon. Our kids are better then that and shouldn't act like children just because we lost. Win with class and lose with class, we're not McKinley for god's sake!!!!!!!

The Head Coach of the tiger football team does and should have alot of influence over the players. The overall lack of team discipline was obvious. Athletes who get in trouble in school, community, etc. should not be on the team or at least should not be playing. If you lose because you stood up for what is right, then so be it. We were losing while allowing some of these kids to play and even start. This is not indicative of someone who has control over his team.

Our team with no coach could've won those last 4 games. All we would have to do is run up the middle on nearly every play and we win.

I didn't say knock on the door to get to practice or the HC follow the kids around town. However, when infractions are/were reported the kids still suited up and played on Friday. If a player misses a practice he sits, if a player throws a helmet he sits the next game, if players are fighting they sit the next game, a player skips class he sits the next game----NO EXCEPTIONS!! What about TEAM curfews during the season? 10-12 coaches with 100 players thats an average of 8-10 phone calls for each coach once/twice a week. Captains are LEADERS so make them lead Parents have to get more involved as well--they definitely are not off the hook but it takes a village to raise a child and we are in this TOGETHER!!!
Just because you have a few mess ups on the team who are starters does not warrant special treatment!!!!! We played Altoona, PA at PBTS on a Saturday my junior year. Some of us thought that since we had Friday free that we would hang out and kick it! Phone checks were made and half the starting defense sat the first half for being 15 minutes late. Altonna scored a TD on the 1st play of the game. We were pissed, the coaches were pissed but Coach Moronto didn't let us in the game. NO EXCEPTIONS ON DISCIPLINE AND TEAM RULES!! If the players do not play by the rules they don't play.
