Muslims Assail Pope's Remarks on Islam
Sep 15 7:40 AM US/Eastern
By SUZAN FRASER
Associated Press Writer
ANKARA, Turkey
Turkey's ruling Islamic-rooted party joined a wave of criticism of Pope Benedict XVI on Friday, accusing him of trying to revive the spirit of the Crusades with remarks he made about Islam. Muslim leaders in the Middle East expressed dismay, and Pakistan's parliament unanimously condemned him. The Vatican said the pope did not intend the remarks _ made in Germany on Tuesday during an address at a university _ to be offensive.

This is the answer to your question. This is why it isn't discussed. The only thing I can't figure out is the why part... Are they afraid? Is is plausable denial. (ignore it and it will go away)?
How can anyone of any any persuasion in this hemisphere not be frightened by that and then have a response like I hate this and that...
Man we gotta get real.

this is as big a problem as we have faced in my lifetime. thank goodness we have a president who understands that there is no use in talking out our differences with extremists. although the libs seem to think that is a real option.
if we continue to be p.c. and take the mindset that we can find some moral common ground with these people we will lose the war on terror. this enemy will NOT negotiate. they will kill children, no matter if they are yours, mine or their own, in the name of allah. we will NEVER have any moral common ground with the extremists and we need to realize that it will soon be killed or be killed.

especially considering this.
let's face it...the majority of people who oppose bush are liberal, democrat...or a mix of the two. liberal and democrats champion themselves as the defenders of minorities, freedom of religion, sexual preference...etc. ...i am NOT saying ALL liberal democrats...
so why do they continually hinder the ability of this nation to proactively take the fight to these islamo-facist nutjobs?? ...who in a HEARTBEAT... would not only take away the rights...but the LIVES of gay, hispanic, black, homosexual, lesbian, Christian, Buddist, Hindu, atheist..... basically all the groups NON-muslims...oh wait...all NON-muslims who do NOT follow the teaching of their fire-brand version of islam.

it's the PC mindset and the libs that are destroying this country. don't you think that the enemy can see this as a weekness? i mean some of these terrorist detainees that we have locked up are receiving better health care and eating better than many of our own citizens. but the ACLU will tell me that they have the right to all of that. ridiculous!!!!

Do you think John Warner and Colin Powell, who is trying his damndest to stop fr/ going to hell for assisting President Cocaine in getting us into that folly in Iraq, fit this category?
Because they are two of the most vocal critics of the War Administration's recommendation to deny detainees basic rights under American Criminal Justice.
How about John McCain? He has his mug right there calling the recommendations ill conceived and beating the CIA senseless for proposing a plan that puts American soldiers at risk.
Really, enough w/ the liberal/PC mantra. People of all political and religious persuasions are rightfully concerned about the way this deceitful administration has manipulated the horrors of Sept. 11 for political gain.

Actually...I was just thinking back when you said how well the war was going . That we were ther to "liberate" the Iraqi people from an evil dictator and that they should have been happy that we were there.
I bet they are just so thankful . We invaded their country ( Even though Bush finally admitted they had nothing to do with 9/11) to spread freedom and Democracy. They have a Govt. and are free to do whatever they want. They have electricity for about 3 hours a day, running water....sometimes, and everyday they find out which friend or family member's bodies have been found along roadsides with holes literally drilled in their elbows , knees , and heads. I mean....what more can we do to help these people? we got rid of Saddam for them .....they should be kissing our behinds for that...don't you think?
Not to mention the fact that we just totally forgot about Afghanistan, to the point where the Taliban has regrouped , gotten stronger and is now using the same means to kill Americans as the insurgents have been in Iraq. You know...suicide bombings , IED's and whatever else they have come up with.
We should have NUKED Afghanistan off the face of the earth right after 9/11. I can guarantee you that if we would have done that.....what's going on in Iraq, would not even be happening.

Let's take the assumption that Bush is Evil  and let's also assume that we have just made a terrible mess of things over there.
Let's also set the backdrop of 9/11 and state as a matter of fact that we were attacked and that EVERYBODY agreed at the time to go and kick some ass.
Now let's ask for wisdom of the masses:
1. What would you have done differently? a change of venue? Where?
2. What is your plan now? How do you get out?
3. What do you say to the families of those who lost loved ones on 9/11?
If you want my vote, you will have to give me the plan BEFORE I elect you. Because from what I can see now, as IMPERFECT as everything is at least we are doing something.
So I ask those smarter than me... What's next? Do you believe enough in what you think to risk getting out of the theatre until you are sure you have dealt a serious enough blow that you can at least postpone the next wave?

09-15-2006, 04:27 PM
marlow, i am done arguing about this with you. i will simply say, as stated before, you (and those who think like you) are part of the problem and not part of the solution. if we elect leaders who are willing to try and talk with our current enemy, the United States as we know them are doomed.

First of all, I never said Bush is evil , and make no assumptions We have made a terrible mess over there , especially if our whole intent on invading Iraq was to "liberate" them.
You asked:
1. What would you have done differently? a change of venue? Where?
Like I said earlier.....if we would have nuked Afghanistan right after 9/11 and killed Osama Bin Laden.....I bet things would be a heck of alot different now.
2. What is your plan now? How do you get out?
Sectarian violence has taken over Iraq. I say, pull out the troops and let them kill eachother. Face it....their military will never be able to stand alone. Why should we sacrafice more of our men and women? The frist time anything, and I mean ANYTHING were to happen to an American , and American Embassy or whatever .......we NUKE the hell out of them. make them an example. If another Arab country gets the idea to mess with us, make them think twice....tell them they will endure the same fate as Iraq, and if they want to test us, let them. Let the world know that we aren't playing games anymore. The videos that werperry posted are eye opening. They teach their children to hate Americans from the time they are born. Have been for thousands of years. This will NOT change. No matter what we do. We cannot force freedom down a countries throat (and that includes freedom of relgion) , where freedom is not wanted or excepted.
3. What do you say to the families of those who lost loved ones on 9/11?
That is up to the President. This is his war. He already admitted to the U.S people that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. He admitted that one of the reasons he sent our men and women to war was because of WMD....which turned out to be a lie.....( Yellow Cake) and he knew it, and yet he still went on television and told that lie to the American people to build up his support for the war. He decalred MISSION ACCOMPLISHED aboard an aircraft carrier over three years ago....I'm sorry but, I don't think MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED.....do you?

Personally, I think this thread has gotten wayyyyyyyy off topic. Do you people realize that whether or not we went into Iraq, this stuff would still be going on all over the world? Do you see the culture of hate that these nutcakes are teaching their youth? This didn't begin when we went into Iraq. This has been going on since LONG before "W" took office.
So keep hating Bush, but that's not what this thread started to talk about. It's about the people that HATE and have ALWAYS hated us, Libs, Mods, and Cons...ALL OF US. They hate us for the way we live, the freedoms we hold dear, and they would LOVE nothing more than to see us all DEAD or converted to their 13th Century barbaric way of life.
Is this what you want?

Anyone. I just don't think this needed to turn into a Bush bash-fest. Whether there'd be a Dem or Rep in office, regardless of what has transpired over the last 5 years, we must acknowledge that this is what we're up against, and they ain't going away any time soon unless we TRULY fight to win instead of trying to make sure everything is done in a PC manner.
This is a sick, sick mentality that must be stopped.
I wasn't taken any pot shots. I just felt that this topic was doing what every other political topic does, and turn into a hate-Bush thread. Just know that this threat would be just as great if Kerry would be in office. Again, they hate ALL of us, not just Republicans.

You know guys, I see a lot more liberal and democrat bashing on this forum than I do Bush bashing.
One or two casual comments against Bush in the context of a discussion does not constitute “Bush bashing”.
The majority of the posters on this site seem to be Right-wing Christian Republican Conservatives. But that does not automatically make it right to pile-on and attack anyone who comes here with an opposing viewpoint.
We would appreciate it if BOTH SIDES would stick to the issue at hand and attempt to argue their position without resorting to personal attacks and name-calling.
And for crying out loud, try to stay somewhere near the topic.
When you argue with an idiot, those listening have difficulty telling the difference.

imho...something WILL happen so terrible, that everyone in the west will scream for blood. then we will win.
I'm not sure that that is the way it will happen.
My guess is that the next terrible thing to happen will be the detonation of a nuclear device in a major US city.
If that happens, I don't think the majority of the western world will scream for blood.
I think that the rest of the western world will say that we deserved it, and that maybe now we will wise up and get out of the Middle East.
That's not how I feel, but I know enough about the feelings of the rest of the Western world to know that they think (right or wrong) that we have overstepped our bounds.
Nuking anyone, is not, never has been and never will be a viable option in this current conflict. Discussing it is just wasted breath.
It's been sixty years since a nuke was used on a mass populace and I assure you we will not be the first ones to do it again.
Radical Islam hates us and will continue to try to kill us. That is a fact. How do we stop them? There is no easy answer.
Our current path has not been effective.
(Someone please explain how the "PC's and Libs" are responsible for this, because I don't see it.)
We don't have the resources or world support to continue to fight this the way we have been.
Pile on me if you want to, but I see no way out except to withdraw from the Middle East and abandon Israel to their own fate.
We need to shore up our own defenses here, rebuild our economy and strengthen our military intelligence.
Because Guys, thump your chest all you want to, but we're losing this war more every day.

Seeker, I appreciate the points you made. However, if you think we should just pull out and then act like we'll all be alright, you are fooling yourself.
There are no easy answers, but we MUST continue the fight, because I am sincere when I say that I don't want my daughter to have to fight this battle.
An example of how being PC is hurting us: I made a statement in another thread that if we want to show these people that we mean business, we need to start bombing the mosques. Boy did that tick some people off. That's what I meant by PC hurting our efforts.
Anyhow, I must state again that we are all at risk here in dealing with this mentality. It scares the bejeebers out of me.
