Allegedly,
They had some pressures with the landlod. Sounds like he wanted them out, so he could move in a chain from Akron called Whiskey River, I believe.
If you go to their website, and enter the forums, you kind of get the jest of it.
When they opened, I thought they would do good during "bike season", but would need a "gimic" to get through the winter.
Too bad, I really liked the place. Better food than BW3, and WAY cheaper !!

Funny thing about that location... I remember that the Thirsty Dog was supposed to be moving in, but it was rumored/determined that there was too much asbestos for the building to be suitably renovated. Since then, we've had a few very similar bars come in (The Basement, Handlebars) that didn't seem to have any such concerns. All of the tenants (including Scorcherz) seem to have the same M.O.: big, sterile, lots of youngsters, crappy music, and lots of fights. I'd like to see an more adult establishment move in, but I'm not holding my breath.
Too bad about the Thirsty Dog. A brewpub would be a whole lot better than anything that's been in there since.

Why dont they just move it into where the old drug store used to be next to Goodwill behind Arby's

It would take MEGA $$$$ to get a structure like that ready to be a bar. Besides, **** **** owns it, and that's another story !!!!:doh2:

I saw that sign too. It was signed "Kevin". Was he the manager?
There is also a letter with several pages on the front door. Saw it flapping in the breeze today when I drove by.
Has anyone here read it?

Yeah, I know all about **** ****. LOL :Rolls Eyes: Guy charges 3x more rent than his buildings are worth.
Its a shame. Perhaps there is another location in Massillon? Anytime this city loses a business it is a bad thing. We need as many businesses as we can get.

A quote from the article:
"A Sept. 1 invoice indicates Robbins and Passeos were $4,000 in arrears for premises and equipment rent."
Not a sizeable sum. My opinion (and I know none of the parties involved) is the landlord wanted them out and used that amount as a basis to do so. I guess it's his property, he can do what he wants. It's sad to see the revolving door of establishments though. You would think with that location a place could do well.

I'm laughing at a different line from that article:
... always made his rent payment within the 10-day grace period. "It was not late. We always paid ours on the 7th, 8th or 9th," he said.
Uhhh... if the rent is due on the 1st, it's LATE on the 2nd, 7th, 8th or 9th. It's NOT mandatory (the law) for a land-lord to allow a grace period.
I'll also refrain from any comments on one of the business owners, Mr Passeos, who also owns Liberty H-D in Akron. I wouldn't buy a $2 bumper sticker from him. (Can I say THAT, Obiefan, without getting the web-site sued?)

It really makes you wonder why all of the other previous businesses that were in that building closed down as well. It's sad when you see a downtown business drawing that big of a crowd every weekend and then all of a sudden, they're gone:down:

Some weekends they had huge crowds and others they were nearly empty. Obviously poor weather has an impact on the bike crowds. I can say from experience, that building has seen better days. Are there any remaining tenants in the section over the Alibi or are all five floors empty? Isn't the entire building for sale?

I believe this is the same building as reported in a related story in today's INDE:
