There's another tempest brewing in the city council teapot over published remarks by the 3rd ward councilwoman. She scheduled a budget hearing on Wednesday, 12/19, and not everyone was able to attend. She told the newspaper the missing councilmen must be at Christmas parties instead of at her important meeting. Several of the absent councilmen are livid about the stone thown by someone living in such a large glass house.

They are upset because city council has had the 2008 budget since
mid-November, and they wanted to examine it and vote on it by the end of the year.

They are upset because she, as chairman of the finance committee, delayed the process due to her own personal and vacation schedule. She finally announced a "budget review" on a Wednesday just before Christmas at her convenience, ignoring the requests of others to get moving on the budget earlier. She doesn't plan to bring it up for a vote until January 2, with two new members who know nothing about the budget or the process.

They are upset because she refused to discuss the budget during any of the scheduled meetings in December when they were all in attendance.

They are upset because she has missed more council and committee meetings than anyone in her two terms on council.

They are upset because she blew off a meeting this summer to attend her own political fundraiser which she scheduled for the same time.

They are upset because she blew them off, too.

She pissing off the other members of council? Good. That's one reason I voted for her.

BTW, her attendance record has already been discussed on here before. At that time, 3 other members had missed as many or more meetings this year. 5 other members had missed as many or meeting last year.

Instead of making unfounded accusations, why don't you publish the attendance records of every council member over the last two years? You do have them, don't you? I mean, you must have some facts at your disposal.

I'm not really sure why you have such a problem with her, but you've been spewing innuendo and accusations that you won't support with facts since before the last election.

Your smear tactics ain't working, chum.

I do know one councilmember that is very upset with her because he had to attend to some things regarding his children. That was a cheap shot delivered by KCP when she was well aware why those members were not present. CHEAP

I agree that her comment was a cheap shot.

Some of the councilmen who supported (or at least tolerated) her in the past are now tired of her act. She's a trainwreck of a councilman and will be even more so without Tim Bryan to hold her hand. It's time for her to put on her big girl panties.

She can't get along with most of her fellow councilmen or the secretary or the president or the mayor or the new auditor, among many others in and out of government. Yep, that's what you look for in a leader!
