Couldn't beat Stacy.

Cross with 41 wins in 5 years (about 8 per year) and one state runner up - and 1-3 against us - and Canton BOE was ready to renew his contract at meeting in March.

Stacy - 26 wins in 3 years (about 9 a year), one state runner up and 3-1 vs. McK - but our BOE isn't able to come to any swift and accurate conclusions.

Hmmmmm :scratchchin:

Not very particularly accurate portrayal of the Cross situation, nor is it a valid analogy. The Canton Super said the she had told Cross his contract would be up for renewal. There was no comment from the BOE. And if you'll remember, Massillon's Super expressed support for Stacy . The BOE has not yet followed through on that recommendation - which shows you what a Super's endorsement is worth.

Moreover, Canton and Masillon situations are completely different. Canton would be more inclined to keep Cross, because the financial situation in CCS makes hiring a replacement of similar stature and under similar terms a much more uncertain prospect. Massillon doesn't have that problem - we've got the political and financial wherewithal to make the deal that will bring the right guy here. The question is whether we've got the brains.

AMEN!!!! Where is that man2man coming from? Other than Stacy's first year, he has nothing to brag about. How many games did we lose this year that should have been won, but most importantly, this team was ripped apart internally this year and that was caused/allowed by the HC.

I believe the BOE concluded based on Stacy's comments after the season
that he was finishing year 3 of a 3-4 tenure...is that not accurate

"Other than Stacy's first year"

Are you kidding me!!!!

That "first year" was the most successful year in over 30 years.

Do you understand the record Massillon has produced since the OHSAA instituted the playoff system?

3 runner up finishes, Tom has one of them. Currence the other two.

A midget league coach could of coached the 2005 team. Anyone who followed those kids like I did since the boys club knew in football and basketball we had some real championship quality talent. They had heart, work ethic, and desire that it takes to win big games---I was with those kids for 8 years watching, working out with them, and just knowing how they were from Ellis and van Ryzin to BG, Pooder, Daily,etc,... I knew those kids were special! Those kids would wake me up walking up from my moms after a movie at midnight to workout and just talk and breathe football---those kids dont come around all the time! The following year he moved positions, played personel where he desired, a few were not available for reasons, and MISSED with alot of talented kids! In 2007 he tore the team apart by his lack of discipline and control---JMHO

Coach Huffman missing from the booth hurt us more than Stacy and others would like to admit as well!

Cross---he wants to be in the Columbus area---less stress for victories and a fresh start plus he is reunited with his buddy the Super from Grove City!

If the coach doesn't matter why does everyone want to run a good man out of town?

I didn't say say the coach didn't matter---it does! I said that the 2005 squad was loaded with talent, desire, and ultimate work ethic from midget league on to college in either baseball or football! Also, that team was the most conditioned team I have seen in Tigertown in years with the WVU conditioning program! Coach huffman as the WR and OC in the booth(his title might not of said OC but he definitely was). It all changed in 2006 and it was Coach Stacy's team alone and he dropped the ball the last 2 years with discipline and personel decisions. In 2007 we bring an all star coaching staff(not my opinion) and the same 6-4 BS result with loads of talent. Don't get me wrong---I love Coach Stacy as a person and have known him for almost 20 years but it doesn't change my feelings on the situation---AND I LOVE THE KIDS MORE!!!!!

Answer the question----Who is ultimately responsible for the discipline, desire, and work ethic of the team?

Cross wanted to leave and the pups were just outmaned this past season. No pressure to win in Olentangy Orange--new school with low expectations to start of the 1st year! The pups will be back in the playoffs because I coached some of the freshman and 8th graders! They are going to be a load to deal with in the future!

There was also some question about his wife having a job in Columbus and not wanting to relocate to our area too. That was brought up a few years ago when there was some question at that time about his resigning.

And Stacy led them to the championship game! Man - other than winning that final, what else did you want him to do with this "super" team? Jeez. You act like he went 5-5 with them.

For a town that hasn't won a championship in forever, you would think there might be a little more gratitude for what Stacy has done.

Dude--shut up whinning about what Coach Stacy did with a team that had loads of talent and work ethic. No he just went back to back 6-4 teams---UNDER ACHIEVED WITH THE TALENT LEVEL!!!! Stacy is a 6-7 win a year coach looking at his resume!!! It's a no brainer that that team was really good! Graditude for what? Doing his job, better yet not messing up a great team which has happened with the last 2 teams in 06 and 07. It was some bad coaching decisions in the title game, 4 or 5 games in 2006, and a few in 2007. Like I said if you follow Massillon kids from flag through HS EVERYBODY WITH A FOOTBALL MIND knew we had 3 great chances to win it and all 3 chances were blown-----the major blame is always blamed on the boss right? Take the heat with the glory---thats how coaching works in Massillon or any other place where winning matters!

Great post, Monte81. You said it all. Now, do you think it'll shut Lord Haw Haw up at least for a little while?

Yes - some gratitiude for doing his job would be appropriate. He took a talented team to the state final. What a bad job he did.

And we had 3 chances to win what? Are you kidding? Do you think this year's team was a championship caliber team? Really? Have you seen a championship team?

If you had a clue what went on this year, and if you really knew football and not just rah-rah talk, you would know 6-4 was a good coaching job by Stacy and his staff.

You lose credibility with each post.

Well, at least one publication thought they were, talent-wise.

Regardless, don't you think that this was at leaset a playoff caliber team?

Yes, we know we KNOW. You were in the "Inner Circle" and knew ALL that was going on. All any of the "plebes" in your eyes saw was the results of whatever the hell you yahoos were doing in the "circle". God, you continue to get more and more pathetic. Tick.....tock.....tick.....tock.....
