I think we got ourselves a heck of a fine coach. Very possibly he will bring Pryor with him. WOW!!

Because WVA was his leading choice due to the offense RR runs.

yeah, but i've heard that he's also looking at the basketball program of the school he chooses, as he wants to play bb as well. that doesn't fair too well for michigan.

Who really cares who coaches the "scum" up there? Does it really matter? I think not! We'll kick his ass like we did Carr and send him packin in a few years anyhow, then they'll have to look for a new coach all over again!

A very well-though out post. I think you might be happier on the OZone. There are some fans, both Buckeyes and Wolverines, who can and do make intelligent comments here.

Heacock needs to figure out how to defense the spread offense or the Buckeyes will be in big trouble.

Rich Rod Rodriguez ("Triple R") will turn the tide against James Patrick Tressel! It will start in the off-season and peak in November 2008!

Mallett will look great running a spread zone/read option offense...lol. HAHA. WHat a joke.

gotigers1,

West Virginia was missing Pat White, Steve Slaton, and Noel Devine. That's a big 72% of their offense in a 13-9 loss to Pitt.

But you know what...this is MICHIGAN. And Triple R will turn the tide against the Buckeyes in November 2008!

MICHIGAN......860 wins, 42 Big Ten titles, 11 national championships. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Well then I hope you really enjoy the Capital One Bowl....we play a slightly more important game a few days later.

This is a good hire for Michigan....although they are going to really struggle initally with that offense. They just don't have the players the run that offense right now. Time will tell how good Michigan can be with that style of offense against the better teams in the Big Ten.

Slaton and Devine played the ENTIRE game but just didn't get the carries and that was a coaching mistake that RR rarely makes but he messed up that game. Devine and Slaton had 7 total carries after White left the game!!! NO WAY should that ever happen with those 2 in the backfield!

Mtown,
i really want to see how UM adjusts to the 3-3-5 defense and can it stand up to the run, run, run BIG TEN offenses. The spread offense however can work against any defensre in the Country with the right players! They will have to really upgrade the team in the speed catagory---fast!!! Great hire IMO however-----RR's speed and strength program will do wonders for the players in Ann Arbor

Just remember Keno, the only reason he is even at Michigan now is the fact that he blew a chance to play for the NC by losing to his rival...Pitt, at home! If he wins that game, it's doubtful he's a Michigan.

Although I'm an OSU fan, I think Michigan got one of the best coaches in the country and OSU coaches and players better be prepared for some battles in the future. It will take Coach Rod a few years to get his personnel in line, but when he does, they will be competitive.

If Coach gets some his speedy recruits this year and next the tide will turn real soon! His strength and speed training program is second to none!

Steve Slaton ran a 4.6 upon arrival to WVU and now runs 4.4 and said its because of the 24 week workout plan! I STILL HAVE THE WORKOUT FOR ANY UP START ATHLETES!!!!

Rodriguez, who was to fly back to West Virginia on Monday, hopes school officials agree that letting him leave right away to assemble his new staff, recruit and evaluate the Wolverines with eligibility remaining is best for both parties.

I'm curious about assembling the new staff. Didn't Carr get all of the coaches contracts through next year?

What recruits decide against going to Michigan now? Which ones will follow RR to Michigan instead of going to WV?

Maybe this is why he posted that about Pryor.

Freshman Ryan Mallett gained experience this year with the Wolverines, filling in for banged-up Chad Henne, and his father said people shouldn't assume his son is transferring because he might not fit into Rodriguez's offense that features a mobile quarterback.

''I talked to Ryan today and he's going to keep an open mind and is looking forward to hearing what coach Rodriguez's plans are,'' Jim Mallett told the AP. ''So, we'll just have to wait and see.''

Mallett's decision might be easier if Terrelle Pryor decides to commit to Rodriguez and the Wolverines.

The star QB from Jeannette, Pa., said he informed Rodriguez that Michigan became one of the five schools he was considering when the coach told him he was going to the Wolverines.

''We talked at 10 a.m. this morning and I told him Michigan just got on my list,'' Pryor told the AP on Sunday night.

Not saying that he will choose Michigan, but it sure sounds like he is SERIOUSLY interested in the Wolverines.

pryor was high on wvu at one time b/c their offense suited his skills. now that he's looking at michigan it shows just how much respect he has for RR and his offensive scheme. somehow, though, i see more likely to sign with osu, especially with the great line they're going to have coming in.

if mallett wants to transfer, though, i'd take him at osu in a heartbeat. he's going to be a talented player.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I see UM having an edge over OSU in landing Pryor. RR called him virtually before he called anyone else.

Btw, I think Don Nehlen had a lot to do with RR taking the Michigan job. He loved it up there while an ass't to Bo and told RR that.

It's going to be a great, interesting ride!

Blackledge predicts new wrinkles at Michigan

http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=391840&Category=17

...“The biggest equalizer in college football today is the spread offense. It makes defenses account for everyone and play out in space where they are not comfortable,” Blackledge said. “Rich Rodriguez is kind of the godfather of the spread, the guru. He’s the one people go to during the offseason to learn what’s new....

nope.......they'll allow 42 points like they did to osu last year.

MTown,

I'll bet my heart and soul right now that Tebow doesn't drop 41 or 42 on Michigan. Don't forget that Michigan is playing the last game of the Carr era and there is no way Michigan's defense will let Tebow reel them in.

SuperBran,

Michigan worked too hard for what happened to happen against Ohio State back in November. That loss was deflating...disappointing...devastating...say whatever you want to. Their offense was non-existent after scoring on their first drive of the game (a field goal). That will change under "Triple R"...you watch.

CarlE,

That loss to Ohio State was again, deflating, devastating, and disappointing. Those young men worked too hard for what happened to happen. After Illinois dusted off OSU, that was the Wolverines one chance to win the Big Ten and yet, they failed to take advantage of it and that is what frustrates me.

Not a lot to be said there. They have to learn from this bitter taste of defeat and be better next time. And they will.

CarlE - Very good chance of that happening. That said, I really don't care because I want to get on with the NEW regime. The days of OSU rolling over UM have stopped just like the reverse when Tress was hired at Ohio St.

It will probably take a couple of years until they acclimated to his program and he gets the right players for his system but you are right. I see the rivalry going back to the good old days of Woody and Bo. Of course

Didn't Carr get contracts for the assistants to run through the next football season? If so, will this keep RR from getting some of "his" guys in place, at least for a year?
