The Massillon 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams posted key wins against Souers Middle School yesterday inside the Souers gym.

The 7th grade team, coached by former GlenOak standout shooting guard (and Mount Union class of 2003) Marcus Marshall captured a 42-33 win as the Tigers used runs of 6-0, 7-2 early in the first half and 6-0 late in the fourth quarter to pull away and the 8th grade team under Brian Smith coasted to a 63-32 win using runs of 10-0, 12-0, and 9-0 to blow the game open.

The Tigers were definitely fast, hard, and physical in both games and are 2-0 on the year. Being a spectator and watching both games...I could not help but be impressed at what was seen last night.

Yeah really. Mckinley always has some height, heck even Perry & Glenoak get 7 footers lately, while we still look like my dad's old 1957 program.

Kamd50,

You're such a sweetheart to me  !

ChronicTiger,

Massillon's tall guy is #55 on the seventh grade team. Look for him to be either 6'4'' or 6'5'' as a freshman.

They are very athletic but are noted more for their fast, hard, and physical play (that same seventh grade team Marshall coaches beat a team from West Virginia in an AAU tournament as the WV team was #2 in the nation). You want toughness...look no further than what I saw last night.

CarlE and proud to be,

Both teams know when to involve force in their game. But for the most part, they rely on playing fast, hard, and physical basketball...the way it should be.
