However, the BCS rules state that you do not have to win your conference.

Well I dont know how the computer is going to figure this one out. But I think it has to be a team that at least won their conference. My guess is LSU.....Possibly USC?

TigerBuckeye313

LSU.

USC is way overrated. Any team that has only 2 wins over teams with winning records is not worthy of a National Championship bid.

LSU was #7 in the computer ratings before their game today. Will they move up 6 slots? You might see a bunch of people voting Kansas and Georgia down in order to engineer an OSU-LSU matchup. Georgia is currently ahead of LSU in both the computer and voter polls, even though LSU won the SEC (and Georgia didn't even win their division). Will the Tigers pass the Bulldogs in both? You might have some very vocal (and justifiable) complaining in a few hours.

Everyone is already jockeying for and OSU/LSU match-up. Of course right after the game the idiot Mark May predicted an easy LSU victory over Ohio State because of their speed and athleticism. I HATE that guy.

Remember, this is the same guy who had South FLorida as his #2 team in the country earlier in the year.

Va Tech was ranked ahead of LSU. They also beat a top 15 team. I don't know how LSU could jump them as well. (Of course LSU did drill Va Tech early in the season).

I think there will be alot of angry fans, regardless of who gets in.

Here are some thoughts on possible opponents:

Georgia: Should get bumped up to #2, just as OSU kept getting bumped the last few weeks. It looks bad though when they didn't even win their conference. They didn't even make it to the conference championship. Will LSU jump them for winning the SEC?

Kansas: Play absolutely NOBODY and got beat by Missouri. They are the least deserving, imo. Also, Did not even play in the conference championship either.

Va Tech: If anyone jumps Georgia and Kansas all the way to #2, it should be them. They won their conference and beat a top 15 team to do it. They did get drilled (not just beat) by LSU, however.

LSU: Lost the #1 ranking not once, but twice. That should eliminate them, imo(I guess not in a crazy season like this). Both losses were in 3OT...so their losses were VERY close, which could bring them more votes along with winning the SEC. (Just lucky they didn't play Georgia yesterday)

USC: Pac-10 champion...Did not really dominate teams as in the past. I wouldn't put a team in who lost to a 4-8 Stanford starting a redshirt freshman Qb in his first game.

Oklahoma: Drilled the number 1 team (yeah, right...Mizzou was really #1 :doh2: ) by 21 on a neutral field. Both losses were close and on the road. I can hear Stoops lobbying just like Urban Meyer last year. Is he persuasive enough to sway some votes?

Hawaii: Undefeated? Shouldn't they have a shot? Although I think having to comeback at home against Washinton shows how good (or bad) they really are.

I say bring on Oklahoma, although I have a sick feeling it will be LSU.

Either way, shouldn't we be happy that it isn't Missouri or Kansas vs. WV?

I know that nobody in the world other than Ohio and Hawaii would watch, but that is who should be in the National Championship Game. Ohio State is thee most deserving in the BCS standings and you can't with a good conscience keep out yet another undefeated team because of politics. Just imagine if it were your Buckeyes getting snubbed undefeated. Case Closed!

side note, it will undoubtedly be LSU.

Mark May is a a## hole. He is alway's putting down the Buckeyes. He has nothing to say good about OHIO STATE. CARLE GEROGIA will proably make it that is my luck. Because if they would beat Ohio State i would never hear the end of it for sure.

You also have to throw in there too that their second loss was to an unranked Arkansas team.

I'm betting it will be the Georgia Bulldogs as they were #4. They will be the first at-large team since Nebraska (2001) to play for a national title. And if it's against Ohio State (which it will be)......

GO BULLDOGS! BEAT OHIO STATE (I always wanted to say that)!

I wonder if Massillon fans are going to hate me picking the Bulldogs against Ohio State...I know how much they are not liked on MassillonProud.com if they know what I mean...anyway, I did meet a Georgia woman at BW3...while I was watching the Michigan-OSU game (she wanted Michigan to win too).

But well see how the BCS plays out tonight.........

I really think it needs to be Georgia. Even though it looks silly that they didn't win the conference and would be in the national championship, they were tied with Tennessee and lost getting in on a tie breaker.

If they don't make it, then it has to be VA TECH over LSU. If teams jump Georgia and Kansas, then VA TECH was ranked higher than LSU at the start of the week AND beat a higher ranked team by MORE points.

The only exception would maybe be Oklahoma who beat (cough cough) #1 Mizzou by 21.

If LSU or USC get in, it would be a joke, imo.

austinsm11

LSU is #2 in the AP poll.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex

How do voters rank Georgia ahead of LSU last week knowing they won't be in the SEC championship game? How do LSU and Oklahoma jump Georgia but Va Tech doesn't? How the heck do you go from 7th to number 2 when only two teams lost ahead of you, three teams didn't play, and one directly in front of you beat a higher ranked team. Makes no sense to me.

Also, why is it the only undefeated team isn't even being mentioned for the title game? Regardless of ease of schedule, they are the only team to win every game they were supposed to win.

If LSU is #2 in the B(c)S I guess it shows that they will just put the two highest teams in that will give the best ratings.

Georgia lost getting into the championship game on a tiebreaker, however. I have a feeling Georgia would have beaten LSU had they made it.

I read that voters should evaluate how they feel teams would do against each other on a neutral field when ranking them. They felt Georgia was a better team last week. LSU is not really that impressive beating Ten. and now all of a sudden voters feel that LSU would beat Georgia on a neutral field?

If you are going based on who wins the conference, how do voters rank Georgia ahead of LSU last week knowing that LSU would be in the championship game and Georgia wouldn't?

How do voters rank Va Tech ahead of LSU last week knowing they were drilled by LSU earlier in the year? While that does seem strange that they would do that, they did. Both win their games against ranked teams yesterday...the difference being that LSU squeaks by a lower ranked opponent and now the voters think LSU is better than Va Tech...makes no sense.

I honestly don't know of any team that really truely deserves to be in the game. Let's just take the top 5 teams, put their names in a hat, and pick. That would be more fair.

Looks like it is Ohio State vs. LSU. Should be an interesting game. Can OSU beat an SEC team? How will the loss of the def. coord. affect LSU? Will the long layoff hurt OSU? Will LSU be completely healthy by the game? Hopefully this gives Beanie a chance to get healthy.

I work with two people who went to LSU. I'll have to get their opinions of the game.

After last year's debacle, it's hard to have confidence in Coach Tressel's ability to get these guys focused. They should all sit and watch last year's game from beginning to end, and vow not to repeat that feeling of shame and embarrassment.

tressel's a great coach. i think he's learned from last year and will have them prepared. i think that means having a tighter leash on each player. i also think that the players this year will be ready. i'm sure they don't want that same embarrassment. with most people giving osu little chance, they'll be playing with a chip on their shoulder.

That's funny. So if you lost every game of the season in OT, it shouldn't count? Besides, they weren't undefeated in regulation. You have to be ahead on the board to be winning, and if it's going to overtime, you're not winning at the end of regulation because the score is tied. What a dork.

They've been reminded of last year since the first day of spring training this year. The final score and other reminders of last year's game are posted everywhere and the score was even the security code to get into the practice facility.

LOL...

The definition of undefeated according to dictionary.com is "victorious", CarlE, so...unless you consider a tie just as good as a win...

Regardless, maybe they didn't actually "lose" in regulation, however they certainly didn't win those 2 in regulation.

Certainly a mistype on my part, but I believe everyone knew what I meant. As for the rest of my post, well, um yeah, you actually finished it for me with the ass part.

Although I think the spin Miles was trying to put on it was kind of funny, I would say technically they were undefeated in regulation( They weren't losing...weren't winning either).
