I'm really interested in what happened to Miles. I'm wondering if a deal was done with Michigan and Miles become irritated and upset with the story leaking before the SEC Championship game and has backed out. I don't know why this story couldn't wait 1 more day to come out. I am wondering if Herbstreit, who the Georgia Tech coach claims is a friend, talked with him and he said that he would be coaching with Les Miles next year and assumed it would be at Michigan.
I don't understand why Les Miles hasn't brought up the fact that he has a verbal contract extension with LSU and will sign it by Thursday. That would be a good way to quiet the rumors. Miles said NOTHING in the pregame press conference to make one 100% sure he wouldn't leave for Michigan.
Miles is in a tough spot because LSU fans are upset that this all came out before the SEC Championshipt game. People in Michigan don't seem to want him now because of the awkward situation. Seems like Miles may be forced to stay at LSU. Mitch Albom talked about not wanting Miles anymore and that Miles was just as much to blame for the whole awkward situation. If he wanted nothing to do with Michigan, he should have said so days/weeks ago. Miles either truly wanted to go to Michigan or perhaps was using it to get more money from LSU.

Well, we can end this debate by thoroughly kicking LSU's *** so neither side cares WHAT he does. I dont like him anyhow.

I'll believe that he isnt going to Michigan when Michigan hires another coach. Until then, I dont believe anything these coaches say.

UM IS A MESS. Alumni/Administration are split on the coaching search. Miles was offered by UM, however he was low balled to appease some alumni, the admin gave him an offer 'he had to refuse' then leaked it to Herbstreit to force Miles' hand. Herbsteit still has the fish hook in his mouth. Could you ever imagine Keith Jackson allowing himself to be used and abused like that?
Decision makers at UM never a considered Miles a serious candidate, he was a favorite by a small but vocal alumni faction.
Look for Pinckel to quietly interview and secure the job shortly. Losing to Oklahoma and not making a BCS bowl game will move up the process and allow his departure from Missouri to UM.

Losing to Oklahoma and not making a BCS game will "move up" the process? What the hell kind of logic is THAT??

he wouldn't/couldn't appear to be interested in the UM job while ranked no.1 waiting to play in the bcs title game. i think we saw what it did for miles' public relations.

Why? What was their reasoning for not wanting him? Did he want too much money?

miles the michigan man wasn't willing to take a pay cut/same pay from lsu to 'go home' to um. miles was negotiating with lsu and um at the same time. miles received a joke offer from um and lsu offered more money. um used herbstreit to force miles' hand and take the lsu offer. lsu was against the wall with pelini going to nebraska (lsu's choice if miles left)
