Front page inde sports, The Inde's " First & Five":

1 McKinley
2 Hoover
3. Lake
4. Perry
5. Massillon

Are you kidding me ???? If Hoover, Lake and Perry put together an ALL STAR team, they couldn't beat us.

Whatever happened to OUR HOMETOWN newspaper ???:doh2:

It is their opinion and we all know about opinions. There are really only two opinions, everyone else's and mine and everyone else is always wrong unless they agree with me.

Keep in mind it is a poll. It means nothing and has no bearing on the season unless it is used as motivation to prove them wrong.

Let 'em keep it that way (though I'm kinda surprised McKinley didn't fall to their #4 given that they nearly lost to Lake). Anyhow - I'd rather not have that #1 tag on our back. The fact that they have Massillon at #5 just demonstrates that they either A) they didn't watch the Moeller game and understand the momentum effect B) have no real knowledge of football or the local teams C) are just throwing words on paper to collect a paycheck or D) all of the above.

While we absolutely have some glaring problems that need immediate attention, if Massillon were playing Moeller again next week, I'd still be betting on the Tigers. Saturday was a train wreck, but it's over and its not a true indication of what the Tigers are capable of.

In the end I believe that this is something that we can use for inspiration.

you had 48 scored on you. 48!

massillon is probably the best team in stark this year....but, my God... giving up 48 then expecting 'respect' is a bit crazy.

the season will play out and you'll have your #1 or #2 Repository ranking. :cool2:

BECAUSE YOU GAVE UP 48 POINTS!!!! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT...? DO YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT AFTER GIVING UP 48 POINTS... YOU DESERVE A #1 OR #2 RANKING.

massillon will get better... bitching over one week's poll is nuts.

First off, Einstein, the poll is about the best 5 in Stark County. It doesn't matter if we gave up 90, it wasn't to some FED team !! It was to a Cincy PRIVATE POWERHOUSE.

Two words that you won't find in Perry's non-league schedule.....PRIVATE-----POWERHOUSE----

If we give up 95 points to Hamilton, AZ next week, does that mean that are any worse of a team in STARK COUNTY ??????????

Apparently, your Perry education doesn't allow you to comprehend the meaning of the First a & Five poll.

Perhaps your time would be better merited to worry about the beating that the DII school from up North is going to lay on Spider's Panthers!!

Perry had a home game against a DIVISION 4 school, and held on for a 10 point win !:doh2:

I hope we don't join the FED !! I couldn't stand to be "FOOTBALL IGNORANT" the rest of my life !!!!

why argue.. If the weekly poll is based on THAT specific weeks game, then Massillon shouldn't even be rated...based on that game only..Although, this weeks opponent is Hamilton.. I really don't think it matters WHO Massillon would play; I think the Tigers WILL show up with a VERY BIG attitude adjustment.. one, that I feel is capable of wuppin any team in the country.. including Moeller.. (Burn me once.. alright.. burn me twice..nope!)

I certainly would NOT want to be Hamilton this week..

Yes, I guess if Moeller, St. Ignatius, St. X, St. Eds etc would all join that powerhouse Fed League they all would finish at the bottom of the league, and their winning days would be all over. I remember and it doesn't seem that long ago, we got hammered once HMMMMM? 38-8, but instead of crying over it, our team just regrouped and came back strong and a few weeks later returned the favor to that same team, HMMMMMMMMMMM, 21-3 I believe. We don't cry my friend, we just come back with a vengence. HMMMM how did that scrimmage go in August against that Perry team?:obiefanfire: :gogogo: TIGERS

our d didn't give up 48 there boss. one of the td's was an INT return and one was on the special teams. but don't get me wrong, the d was not stellar.

Our "D" gave up 246 yards !!!! Hardly 48 points worth. Hard to fault a defense, when the other team starts at YOUR 42 yard line, on average, every series.

Punt return
INT
2 fumbles led to two WAY short fields, one at the 21 yard line.
That's about 4 scores!

Defense wasn't stellar, but wasn't the scapegoat this week !!

I'd blame more on the special teams than the defense !!!

This was never meant to be a Perry "bashfest" or a FED issue. I am sorry it got to that. My point was: That a week ago, we were ranked #1 in Stark County, by our local paper. My thinking is that this is an ongoing ranking, and not a weekly ranking.

Losing to a Cincy parochial such as Moeller, shouldn't carry the weight that it would take to drop 4 spots. Had we lost to Mogadore, maybe.

All things considered, the Inde is SUPPOSED to be OUR paper.

However, what's done is done. We must improve, to improve our ranking.

Good luck to Perry this weekend !!!

To your point DAWGH8R:

Isn't this it in a nutshell?
There's two number on here that sum it up.
Do they belong to the defense?

Are those stats not wrong? Did we not have 2 INT's (Miller and Massey)?

You might also note that return yards aren't listed. That was:
...............................Mass Moe
Punt Returns-Yards............ 2-37 7-176
Kickoff Returns-Yards......... 5-112 1-5

Confusing.
I got the stats from TigerDon's article on the front page.
The Independent says 245 return yards, 146 of which were punt returns.
They also say 205 total for Moe on offense.

But I don't think it matters does it?
Based on the stats, except for two exceptional areas, we should have been in a good game.

My only point is that the defense was not the problem.

It stopped being "our newspaper" a long time ago. It's now simply known as one of the three Copley Press newspapers in the area.
