If this were John Doe would this be a news story??

What's your point? It's not a John Doe. It's someone in a recognizable paid position whom parents trust with their kids.

Let's not make Don Hertler out to be a career criminal, for God's sake! He made a mistake and will probably pay for it more than the average Joe would because of his position.

Never made him out to be anything. Just merely stating why it was news, and justifiably so.

Would this make more of a noise if it were a Massillon HC? :ohno: Wonder what old TP will have to say about this one.

Honestly, if it were Stacy or Rose or someone like that it would prolly be the same. If it were Shepas though, holy crap would that be a **** storm.

I personally hope he does not get fired. Mostly because he is overated & cant beat us, let alone get out of the region. A nice fine or suspension would be good, a couple days in jail even better. Hey, I dont like the guy. Luckily no one got hurt of course.

Of course not. It's not newsworthy as it is.

Hmm...

Headed SOUTH on Cleveland Avenue from Tusc....that sure isn't towards North Canton.

I believe there is a "fine" establishment South on Cleveland from Tusc Avenue.

In all seriousness, thank goodness noone was hurt.

not really newsworthy at all. so donnie had a few too many NIPS and drove home. the season is over and his free personal time is no one`s buisness. it wasn`t smart but he`ll go to drunk camp for the weekend like any other joe.

now if he gets another one down the road then he may have a problem.

So, you say?? I'm assuming you would feel differently if he smacked into a family member or friend of yours. That could happen to any one of us any day of the week. And if it's personal time, then stay off of the public roads! Luckily the outcome was not a bad one. I'm certainly no angel, but the man needs to be held accountable for his actions, as I would expect to be for mine. Every DUI is in the paper if I'm not mistaken. As I said before, he's in a recognizable postion, in charge of kids. That's the difference here.

We are in agreement on this one.

The man is the highest profile coach in a school system that has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on alcohol and drug abuse among its student athletes.

Remember what happened with their cross-country team a couple of years ago?

This man is going to stand in front of the football team next year and hand out the athletic contracts and lecture them about alcohol abuse, and remind them that ONE INFRACTION means that they are off the team for the year?

I think not.
If I know North Canton parents, he is done and rightfully so.

Win with integrity.
We should take a page or two from that book.

Agreed, but its a separate issue.

A "few beers with his steak" would not likely have caused him to go the wrong way down Cleveland avenue, or fail a field sobriety test.

I'd say he was probably a few sheets blown to the wind.

this is probably the most ridiculous and asinine post i've ever read. go tell those who've lost loved ones that dui laws are a joke.

sure, let's just let everyone drink as much as they want and then get behind the wheel. :wall:

i'd rather a man not have "a few beers with his steak" then to have one person dead b/c some idiot doesn't know when to stop.

I think I remember either basketball players or football players suspended for drinking beer during the summer.
