I think it's "Pinckel", although if it's "Pickel", that would bring more great Michigan jokes.

Pinckel was coach at Toledo before jumping to Missouri.

I am going out on a limb and saying Brian Kelly. Has VERY strong Michigan ties throughout the state. Miles will stay at LSU. Another face who could show up in this race is Houston Nutt, who actually might now be the front-runner for the Nebraska job since they wanted him badly when he turned them down to stay at Arkansas when they hired Callahan.

Harbaugh hurt his chances by saying this...

“Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there, but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them.” - Jim Harbaugh

Do you have any clue what you are talking about? On the day Nutt resigned he was offered a 3 year extension for $2.4 Million guaranteed. He stepped down at Arkansas because they lost all their studs and from the crap he had to put up with there this past year. Please do not say he was forced out when he TURNED DOWN an extension from them yesterday. You do not have a clue on this one.

You're the guy that ripped Paul Farrah on this site as an overrated coach.

All he's doing is preparing for a state title game tonight.

Use your own logic regarding Nutt.

The team will be void of talent next year. Do you think he's the only one at Arkansas that knows that? He's the one that shoved Mustain and Mustain's coach out the door. Arkansas fans and administrators wanted him gone for ruining the Springdale, Arkansas pipeline.

It is simple, you don't resign if you're wanted and receive a severance package, that isn't how it works.

Arkansas wouldn't let him resign with a package and go to a conference rival if they still wanted him. You're as wrong about Nutt as you were about Farrah.

Interesting. Miles says:
"I'm the head coach at LSU, I will be the head coach at LSU," Miles said in a news conference Saturday.
He didn't say anything about next year. He is the coach at LSU today...and he "will be" for the SEC championship game. Maybe even their Bowl game. But what about next year?

Miles, who did not take questions, said he would address more after the game.
I have a feeling that he won't address any questions about next year.

"He met with the chancellor and finished this one Friday. We still don't have the papers and the agreement. Everybody's happy; we're especially happy. He never wanted to go to Michigan. He was called by the chancellor of the
Yeah, I really believe that. Whether Miles ends up at Michigan remains to be seen, but to say that he never wanted to go to Michigan is crazy. There is at least part of him that wants to be there.

If all of this is wrong, Herbstreit has alot of explaing to do, imo. Not only was Miles going to Michigan, but he also had named at least one Georgia Tech coach who would go with him.

Do I have a clue?

Wow!! I find that hard to believe. All Paul Farrah has done is win, everywhere he's been. He took a weak Tuslaw program and took them to the playoffs, and instilled pride in the program that had been lacking. (No disrespect to the former coaches at Tuslaw.) He then goes home to Louisville, and has been a very good program year in and year out.

Overrated??? Anybody who saw last nights game, and the halftime adjustments he made to slow down Anderson wouldn't say that. If they did, they either have something personal against him, or they don't know football. After sitting in the stands at PBTS for 10 + years watching coaches who either refused to, or were incapable of making adequate adjustments, it was a real treat for me to see someone adjust, and almost come all the way back from a big defecit. If not for one big play in the 4th quarter, Louisville may come out on top. That 1 big play was all the offense Anderson could muster in the second half......

I have a hard time believing anyone with football knowledge can look at Paul Farrah and say he is overrated as a talent evaluator, and coach who gets the MOST out of the talent he has. Those Louisville kids tackle........... They ACTUALLY TACKLE!!!!!! Hard to believe isn't it???? They don't just look to make a big hit, and look good on the JUMBOTRON!!!! Those kids would also run through fire for Paul Farrah, and that is what coaching is all about IMO.He also followed a pretty tough act at Louisville, and that is NEVER easy.

I for one, am a fan of what he has accomplished, and wish him well next year. With all those underclassmen starting this year, (17), he actually got there a year early in a lot of people's estimation.

He must have just had a lucky year.....................

I don't see anything in that article that changes anything. However,Michigan probably has blown it big time in getting Miles. Carr doesn't like him and AD Bill Martin has no feel for athletics. He's no Don Canham! He's strictly a bean counter and listens to Carr.

I am so damn mad at UM right now, I really couldn't care less who they hire.

Looks like Miles was talking to Michigan again.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3150159

The Detroit Free Press had reported that Miles spoke Friday morning with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and university president Mary Sue Coleman, according to several people with knowledge of the call.

In a statement released by LSU, Miles said that was true. But he also clarified that the conversation was not about him.

"I had a conversation with Michigan last week that covered a wide range of topics. I was doing nothing more than helping them with their search for a football coach, just as any loyal alumnus might do. It was nothing more than that," Miles said.

Hmmmm.....maybe doing something like, I don't know, not talking to the school that everyone has speculated you are going to (especially after denying that you will not coach there) and then talking to them a week or so later isn't the best idea to convince people that you really aren't interested in that school.

On Sunday, Missouri athletic director Mike Alden announced that Pinkel will receive a $550,000 annual raise and a one-year contract extension. That gives Pinkel a guaranteed $1.85 million a year.

The new five-year deal extends Pinkel's contract through 2012 and marks the second season in a row he earned a pay raise. Late last season, Pinkel was given a $225,000 raise and three-year extension.
