I would like to watch Massillon line up and run the ball until someone consistantly stops the run. Moeller couldn't do it. Folks we have some hogs, and three d-1 players toating the ball. One is a senior, one is a junior, and one is a soph.

We may have no choice if our QB's keep getting snot-bubbled.

What are you talking about? Our run game was DECENT at best against Moeller. Our OLine just hasn't come along like the line from last year. We don't sustain blocks, we don't finish plays, and we don't move anybody. All the yards BG and KJ have gained are done a lot on their own, sorry to say.

I really believe our OLine can be tremendous. We can be really good. We just need to come out and play, and focus. The time to start geling is NOW and the time to see what we're made of is now!

LET'S GO TIGERS! WE ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS OUR OLINE!!! WE CAN DO IT!

Rushing: Gamble 15-57, 1 TD; Turner 6-36

After being down so far, we had to abandon the running game !!

Doesn't help that Leonard had to play ILB on defense, and block those LB's on offense !! :sour:

Leonard, What A Player - Tough. Too Bad He Had To Play Both Ways - He's A Prototype Fb Who Will Do Great In The Run-n-boot Once It Is Fine Tuned. Massillon Will Get Better Each Game After This.

I liked Leonard's play at ILB. A very solid tackler with some speed and weight to back it up.

I thought Leonard did an exceptional job! I'm wondering what happened to Porrini and KJ. At the booster club meeting he said for sure that MP would be playing but only on offense and that both KJ and Leonard could play LB but that KJ would probably be the guy.

I know we will be ready to play Saturday!!!!!!

KJ was out there.

On Porrini, I think everyone who see him should ask him when he will be back for the Team. I personally look for him to be back in full force this week. Mike is a tough kid who will really help us!

What I would like to see is Kj, Turner, Leonard, and whoever wants it the most at any position to step up! Wewere letting Moe push us around and dominate the line of scrimage(OUR "O")and we cant win like that versus big time programs! The starters have to play special teams to stop big plays! #99 on "D" is not getting enough playing time-- when he is in the game he makes things happen! What ever happened to playing the best players no matter what!!!

I thought Cody Colly was the starter? What happened to him?

Leonard filled in admirably but if you watch the replay our LB's were slow. (shockingly). Which is ok if you have size, which we dont have either. We need some quickness there. I am w/ Monte81 about #99 or whoever else. I might even put Daily inside and more speed outside.

I have the most confidence in Stacy and am not trying to play coach here, but I will be very interested to see what changes take place.

We are faster than Moeller but we looked twice as slow. I dont get it, and I am extremely concerned right now.

Speaking of Daily, he is the 9th leading tackler on the team after 3 games. I would have expected his production to be much higher seeing as though he is a ‘Linebacker U’ commit. Teams must really be intent NOT to go in his direction.

Daily should be at ilb-- always and put in position so teams cant run away from him all the time. He is isolated to one side of the field and midget league coaches can see that!

I certainly am NOT criticizing the coach’s positioning of players. They are the paid experts, not me. The overall message I want to send to the Team is that the game vs. Hamilton got a little bit more important as of 6:30 PM last Saturday. The specific message with my comments regarding certain players is that we need our BigTime playmakers to do just that, make BigTime plays.

The character of this Team, and individuals associated with this Team, will be tested this week. Massillon is watching.

GO TIGERS!

I am certainly not 2nd guessing the coaches however teams will cosistantly and definitely run and pass away from our strengths and moving him around as a rover linebacker will let him make plays! We cannot expect him to run down plays from the backside or our safeties making 15-16 tackles like Saturday! Everyone on thr team should play a role of stepping up for the big games because we are MASSILLON and teams are gunning for us!!

Anyone else have a bad feeling watching the Tigers come out and stand around for 10 minutes and just every player had this slumped shoulder look to them, I honestly didnt see one person on that team with a "fired up" lets finally play a meaningful game this season. I certainly hope it was a smack in the mouth, wake up call or we all could be watching a Tiger team with the most talent in 35 years not even make the playoffs.
IMHO we will be watching a completely different team this Saturday, Stacy is 9-0 at PBTS.

Most talent in 35 years?

I definitely say one of the most hyped teams in 35 years! 1988-1991 teams would of never played a game like last Saturday! The 1988 team was 9 points from being undefeated(4 DI Players), 1989 team lost in the semis to Iggy, and 1991 team lost to Iggy 12-7 the year they won the national championship!!(6 DI players) It is not all about talent it is additude and the willing to lay it down for the team every play! The 2006 tigers are talented but lacking some additude and consistantly! Watch the old films-- I have access to games dating back to 1979 on Beta!(You youngsters dont remember that)

Small corrections to Monte's post above: The '89 Iggy team won the national title. The '91 Iggy team, who we lost to 14-13, lost 2 games that year (I believe they had some key injuries keeping guy(s) out in those two games).

TigerVic is correct.

The 1991 team lost to St Joseph and St Edward on back to back weeks. The starting QB was injured as well as a few others.

There is no mistaking the 89 and 91 teams. While both were state champs, the 1989 team was one of our best (if not THE best).

Speaking of the 1991 Tiger team-- I drove up from college with 2 Massillon guys that lived in my dorm. That was a great game.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread. Good luck to the Tigers. Crush Hamilton.

Thanks for the corrections-- all i am saying is that from 1988-1991 Massillon we had some great teams! the 88 team I feel would have won it all if not for the suspension! WGH won it that year and we know they cheated that game! What was Coach Owens winning percentage?

I would disagree and say the most hyped teams was when we had Zwick. That was a real let down. Before that i would say '96 team.

I remember vividly beacuse Mck was playing in our house and late in the 4th Qtr they were running around chanting "Overrated!!" I think we were nationally ranked that year ahead of Mck. I also think that was the year of the ice bowl at the Rubber Bowl when we got beat by Brunswick because Rose wanted to go for two despite the fact we couldnt move the ball at all due to the weather.

The Zwick teams were not overrated-- we had crable, ballard, ricky johnson, jordan, etc,... we had talent all over the field! The most hyped team was 1999 when we lost to Perry or 1986 when we had so many so called all americans and went 7-3, lost to McKinley, and missed the playoffs!

I have to respectfully disagree. While we had a ton of talent as soon we faced Iggy we got crushed. Look at Zwick in particular, you would of thought he could walk on water with everyone talking about him and it isnt his fault, now look at what happened at OSU.
It seems in years prior to Stacy we would kill these cremepuff teams, pad our stats then when we faced a real challenge we would lose. To me that is overrated and I blamed poor coaching. I wish we had Zwick and company coming up now under this new coaching regime.
They had lots of talent but I am speaking to our state and national rankings and pre season talk of what we would accomplish not the athletes themselves per se. Hope that makes sense.

I dont think zwick and company was that big of a let down....

That IGGY team had more talent than us across the board. The QB was better, line play was better, overall better LBs. I think we could of won but we lost to a better more talented team. I get so tired of hearing that we were more talented than those IGGY teams, they had more talent across the board and were much deeper. Its tough to beat a team like that with a few great players.

Chronic is right on. Ignatius was much deeper than the Tigers in 2001. Massillon had some outstanding players, but Ignatius had just as many. (Kerr and Gonzalez to name a few) Besides, it never helped Massillon's cause when we'd throw a bomb for a TD or get a turnover to start the game. As good as the Tigers were in 01, I thought the game was over when Gonzalez caught the long TD on the first series of the game. Massillon had to play catch-up the rest of the night. I think we ran at total of 5 offensive plays against the Tigers in that game and they all worked.

I really liked watching those Massillon teams and the crowds were always great. (Even though i left some of those games scratching my head of some Tiger coaching decisions)

Good luck against Hamilton

Well spoken! the iggy teams were stacked and just out played us! Remember that Gonzalez beat us all by himself! he was a stud-- however we had chances to win those games! I agree w/ the last few posts. We had 2-3, maybe 4 bonafide blue chippers but quality thru all 22 and key reserves went to Iggy.

Was it that year, or the year before, we knock their all-state QB out of game and they bring in another all-state QB off the bench? Close game at that point and we thought we had them. Geesh were we wrong.

I was thinking we were ranked 1st in the state and 6 in the country heading into McKinley week. I still can't believe we lost. We did lose to Brunswick. That was a cold game and very long ride home. I could have swore we missed the PAT. I don't remember going for 2, but I could be wrong. We were up 6-0 and Brunswick scored and I think they used 2-3 timeouts just to clear snow from the field to help out the kicker.
