Ok, so I am in Dalton watching the Ohio State game and I decided to order pizza from the Kraus in Dalton.... I Love Kraus pizza, but for some reason the one in Dalton taste nothing the Kraus in Massillon. It was the worst the worst pizza I have ever had. Does anyone know why the Kraus in Dalton taste so different than the one in Massillon? :wtf:

What would its location have too do with anything? Its in the same box and has the same name on it. Why cant it taste the same?
Does Pizza Hut pizza taste the same from one city to the next?

I always wondered why the Kraus at Lake Cable tasted different as well.

PapaJohn's, Pizza Hut, Donatos, and the other big chains spend millions to make sure their pizza have a similar taste per the regions they are in.
My guess is that Kraus's doesn't have the money to spend millions on such things.

it's like this...why does one person's momma's cooking taste better than anothers??? some have the right recipe...and know how to use it to its best advantage...and sometimes, practice is what may make the difference...
and it really comes down to personal taste...the person making the pizza...and possibly doing some taste testing...thinks it tastes good...

Ok, folks, here's the correct answer. I often wondered this myself years ago and asked Mr. Kraus that same question. I always thought the Amherst store was far superior to the Lincoln Way West and the Perry Heights locations. He explained that the ovens at each location are different styles and have different efficiencies such as heat retention, air flow, etc. (I always thought it was because of his sweat dripping in the little pepperoni cups.)
Lately, I've found that the Lake Cable store has the most consistent, more flavorable store. The Amherst store has gone downhill in my opinion. The 8 high school kids they have working there don't produce the consistent quality that Mr. Kraus used to, or the ladies that run the Lake Cable store.

Ah! Pizza Wars! I don't really care; they all taste good. Anybody try Hungry Howie's up on Wales? They feature different flavored crusts. As that hot little momma Rachel Ray would say,"Yum-O!"

Tigercoach is right. The locations that have gas ovens are better than the electric ovens.

Oh gosh, I can't believe I'm agreeing with this also, lol, but TC is right!
Not only do the ovens make a difference, but whether they make their own sauce or not and in what kind of equipment they cook it in.
I also agree, again TC, that the Amherst pizza is sadly not once what it was:sad2:

We always get our pizza at Kraus on Amherst. Sometimes it is right on and tastes like the Kraus pizza of old, sometimes its not as good. I still like it better than other pizzas.
I remember going to Kraus with my friends in the 60's. We would order our pizza and eat it right there in the store.

Why doesn't Kraus' have a Hilliard location? Nothing beats Kraus'!!
I am sad to hear that the Amherst store, the one of my youth, has gone downhill.

Marie, I agree. As Forrest Gump said; "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
The same thing can be said for pizza from Kraus' Amherst location.

I love Donatos and Pizza Oven.
Perhaps the reason I am not a huge fan of Kraus was that my wife and I used to go to the one on Amherst when we were younger. It was terrible. When we moved to Lake Cable, however, we would get pizza and wings from Kraus almost every weekend.

I just wish Kraus' would deliver! I always get my Kraus' pizza from
the "mothership", Amherst location.

There is no bigger fan of Kraus' Amherst for 35 some odd years. God bless Larry Kraus. But you are right - not as consistent as it was. But when it is good it is still the best pizza ever made.
30th Street by old Mckinley theatre is VERY great. So is the one in North Canton off Cleveland Ave. At one point I collected the cut-out coupons and had over 500. (Only took a couple-3 years too).

I don't make enough money to buy a Pizza Oven pizza. With as expensive as the pizzas are it is no wonder that the owner was able to buy the old Republic site.

There is no bigger lover of pizza than right here! I used to love to buy my pizza at Kraus' Amherst. Vickie (I believe her and her husband are the owners.) is very friendly and understands the value of a repeat customer. If you bought your pizza there you know she tells you to keep the coupon. A couple of years ago I started getting undercooked pizzas from them and I started to request my pizza to be cooked well-done. It worked for the most part but unfortunately at times they were still LOADING my pizza with sauce and I was still getting crappy pizzas. As well Kraus's Amherst is the only location to my knowledge that coats your pizza with that garlic lard crap after they pull it out of the oven. I stopped going to Kraus Amherst for my pizza and started going to Perry Heights and Lincolnway West. They have VERY consistent great pizzas and Lincoln Way West hotwings (spicy but not hot) are the best in Massillon! This past summer I decided to give Kraus' Amherst another chance and ordered my pizza like normal. I didn't realize Vickie's husband was manning the oven and he over-cooked my pizza so bad that it was burnt in places. I was very upset and he remade my pizza and he still didn't get it right. "Just another crap pizza made by Kraus' Amherst." Like many have said Kraus' Amherst is VERY inconsistent! They DON'T deserve any of the awards they have hanging up and should take them down. I haven't tried Kraus' Dalton but you can't go wrong with Kraus': Lincolnway West, Perry Heights or Middlebranch.
I heard once that someone is still running the "Kraus' Pizza Corporation" but obviously not very well. Kraus Pizza should be playing like a team but while I was at one of their locations I overheard another franchisee talking crap about another. The whole idea of a franchise is to have consistent product no matter where you are. Someone needs to go in and clean up the Kraus' Pizza locations and get some standards. It doesn't take millions of dollars or even thousands of dollars to do this. How about get some common sense, agree to some standards that all current franchisees can live with and live up to them. Gee, I guess that could cost millions.
Hungry Howie's is a crappy pizza. Do I really need to say "cardboard pizza?" There is no bonus in getting a flavor crust and if you get the garlic-flavored crust you will be exiled. Perhaps the worst pizza out there is the ungodly hyped Vocelli's Pizza. The sauce, the cheese and the whole damn pizza is CRAP! It appears that "Corporate Pizza" is just trying to one up the Domino's Pizza "blueprint." If Massillon pizza lovers ever leave Massillon we will be DOOMED!

We used to get Kraus pizza on Middlebranch Road (plain township) and it was good. It's not very good any more. We have been getting Pizza Oven and it is better.
