"I was just laughing," Hart said of Michigan State taking the lead. "I thought it was funny. They got excited. Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you're playing basketball, and you let him get the lead, and then you come back and take it back."
Now let me say that on the field I love watching Hart run the ball....he is a warrior. But it's stuff like this that makes people hate Michigan. He's a captain and should have more class than that.
One of the reporters should have tapped him on the shoulder and reminded him that's he's playing his BIG brother in two weeks.

I noticed you conveniently left out MSU coach Mark Dantonio's comment after UM lost to App. St that maybe maybe there should be a "moment of silence." Oh, but that's OK. He's just another in a long line of blow hards who will always come up a little short to UM. Granted I wished Hart hadn't said it but what is, is.
Btw, let's be honest. That's not your REAL reason for hatred toward the University of Michigan!

Better be careful whatcha say! There could be a real line of progression - Wofford beat App. St. who beat Michigan who beat Oh.......... I'm gonna let you guess!
Oh! And you didn't think UM-MSU was a BIG rivalry?????

I left it out intentionally because of Michigan's moment of silence gesture on the field after the game....MSU had that coming to them. I really like Dantonio as a coach but he needs to keep his mouth shut until after he beats Michigan.
But come on, W1...you know this isn't the first time Hart has run his mouth. He would be respected so much more, even by Buckeye fans, if he would just let his play on the field do the talking.
Oh, and don't forget this one...
"I came back for my senior year to win the National Championship and to beat the Buckeyes."

I agree to an extent. He should have kept his mouth shut regarding Jim Harbaugh, too. Harbaugh is every bit a "Michigan Man" as Hart and quite possibly could be their next head coach. That wouldn't be a bad choice at all imo.
Dantonio is a good coach and I'm guessing he's trying to stir the pot a little up in E. Lansing. I will give you a few quotes when time permits.
On Hart's last quote, he could be half right or totally wrong. We shall see!
Football is funny. I think most fans, if honest, thought this is the year UM whips OSU. Now, I think UM must totally confuse OSU and play a near-perfect game to win. Who would'a thunk!!

As promised, here is some quotes from Dantonio and others: To me, it sounds like he's copying Tressel's comments about so many days 'til the Michigan game at the OSU basketball game. Well, Mr. Dantonio, bring it on!

Aside to "austinm11" maybe you will understand UM has more than OSU as big rivals! But, that's what makes the season interesting! No??

I know what Hart won't run his mouth about... Ask him how it feels when you beat Ohio State.

Michigan State has always been a strange program in my eyes. Seems like they always have pretty good talent, and they always seem to play up against the big boys (OSU, UM, ND) but then have rediculous collapses at one point or another. Dantonio was probably trying to change the environment up there. I get it, but it made him look stupid in the end.
I've said all year that this Ohio State team was better than people thought, and I still think Tressel should be a lock for coach of the year considering who he lost from last year's team. I've also said that this years' Michigan game scares me more than the past couple of years. And with Michigan losing those two opening game, it means more to them with the Big Ten title and any shot of a BCS game riding on it. I think OSU gets a BCS bowl even with a loss, but Michigan's only shot will be the Rose Bowl and they gotta win the B10 to make it happen.
And, I've also been saying since the day he committed that at some point, Mario Manningham is going to beat us all by himself....I just hope it's not this year.

Dantonio is definitely trying to change the culture and attitudes at MSU. it is an uphill battler however, which you can tell by his comments. the quote regarding donors giving or selling their tix to non MSU fans gives a clue to what he is facing. can you imagine OSU donors allowing UM fans access to their tix in large numbers???

Would never happen. Michigan fans are intimidated to come to Columbus with all the abuse they take. If I wasn't an Ohio State fan, I would never go to a game down there.

I tell you what is disgusting. Watch how many RED COATS you'll see in Ann Arbor a week from Saturday. I know there is a lot of law firms and doctor's offices where there are grads from both schools but, as MTown said, you would never see the reverse in Columbus. And, yes, the abuse is great. I haven't been to THE GAME in Columbus since 1988 and never will go back.

I hope the OSU defense remembers when Hart said after last year's game that "there is nothing special about that defense, they're not special." I'm hoping that quote is brought up many times after this week's game.
I'd like to see him with less than 100 yards on 30 carries as he limps off the field at the end of the game.

Great post, MTown! MSU is an enigma. Always have been.
I, too, think this is an outstanding OSU team and worthy of being #1. I really like the kid Todd Boeckman at QB and Robiske. They aren't as glitzy but more workmanlike. I think Tress deserves "Coach of the Year" hands down.
Mario is certainly a special talent. I hope he stays, for maturity purposes, one more year but the way he's playing now, I kinda doubt it.
I really don't see UM beating OSU unless LC completely goes against his way of predictable coaching and I don't think the predictability of that happening is very good!!
Btw, tonight we are have the Warren Sports HOF fundraiser called "THE GAME." We are having speakers Tom Cousineau, Joe Germaine and B J Downing from OSU and Rob Lytle, John Herrnstein and Walt Downing from Michigan plus a "special guest" who must remain a mystery. This event grows by leaps and bounds each year.
Let me know if anyone wants to attend. Tickets are $40 which includes your meal and is held at DiVieste's on North River Road.

I won't be able to make it...but if you get a chance to get a word in with Joe Germaine, please remind him that he was the most underrated QB in OSU history!
And I really hope you are right about Michigan being too predictable in THE GAME. I am still gun shy after SOOOOO many losses in the Cooper years. It's still Ohio State/Michigan and the season is make or break depending on the outcome.
