Just a thought.

For years the fans have been asking for the Tiger "STARS" to play both ways. Last year Coach Stacy played a few on both sides of the ball, and on special teams. This year it appears as though MANY of the "STARS" have been called on to play both ways, and on special teams. It was obvious early that several players were gassed. Several players were "asking out" on consecutive plays, and that hampered our ability to compete physically, when it was hard enough to stay focused mentally considering the way the game started.
So,,,,. How far can this team go with all of these "STARS" having to play both ways? The schedule doesn't get any easier, and the season everybody was hoping for is in certain jeopardy after this showing!
Lets all support the team in every way and hope that coach Stacy can find the find the magic that was present last year.

BTW! "Special teams"?
Was that Mario Manningham wearing 83 for MOE? Did a much maligned former head coach come back as an honorary special teams coach?

GOOOOO Tigers! You can do it:trophy:

This was just one big ouch on our backside.

I'm sure much will be said about what happened today. I do remember another Tiger team that went to Cincy and got beat by Moe and then turned around and had a great season and "shoulda" won State - nearly beat Iggy in the semis. This team will have a major gut check as of NOW - we'll see how they respond. And of course, we are behind them all the way.

I'm sure the Hamilton players were watching the game on TV out here today - and I hope that they are really overconfident now too.

We did not see this team's A game or B game today.

I agree. Let's see how they respond. Tough loss but I think this week will determine how the rest our season goes. If we rebound with a good week of practice we can get right back on track.

Tough loss !! Came out flat, took a flash knockdown early. Field position was a KILLER! However, our boys NEVER quit !!

Too bad some of the fans did. I even saw a "star" player's family skip out with a couple of minutes left.

The kids deserved better, know matter the outcome !!

On to next week !!!!

GO TIGERS !!

Couldn't quite figure out the offensive strategy today. The Tigers seemed to be able to move the ball on the ground. Some very high risk across the field passes that Moeller defended very well.

Horrible no-call on the hit on Huth in the end zone. Defender took two steps after qb released the ball, helmet to helmet contact...and no personal foul? Any chance of a comeback was gone after that play.

Tough schedule ahead. Mentor is next after Hamilton, and they are 3-0, just beating a very good Solon team Friday night. Then St. Ignatius comes to town. Let's get behind the team and give them our full support. Go Tigers!

To those of you who saw the game... what happened? Did the team just come out flat? Dawgh8r also mentioned field position.

Listening on the radio after the first early touchdown you feel a little in shock. Then after the 2nd one is killer. Must have been hard keeping heads in the game down 24-0 in the first but it seems like our kids really were still in it and fighting.

Well, I guess we can armchair QB this thing a little.../

DPdad, I definitely agree. I was hoping Stacy would pull out the Owens playbook from when we beat Walsh Jesuit after being down 24-7 at half. Owens came out and used the strength of the running game in that second half and ran over WJ, hardly throwing a pass the first few series - stuffed it down their throat!

Watching this game, we'd just start to get it going - opening huge holes and Moe wasn't stoppin us on the run. Then we just got too cute with the play action - Moe read it well - give Crable credit for being prepared for those calls - he knew they were coming, yet he hadn't stopped the run yet.

I don't know...who knows, it's over, we need to learn and go on

This game is over....no use in picking it apart....we were what we were today.....tomorrow starts a new week and a new challenge....I think the players were too confident after the first two cupcake opponents....we need to have a serious gut check here and move on...GO T-I-G-E-R-S............Glendale!!!!!!!!!!!

Before you pass judgment on this years team at this early stage remember we weren't at full strength (two starters didn't dress and a number of others weren't at full strength) and are inexperienced (not untalented) at a number of position which was exposed.

That is to take nothing away from Moeller as we were outplayed at a number of positions where health or experience wasn't an issue. Again special teams killed us (thoughts of quick kicking on third down appeared to an option).

When this team matures and is playing at its best (and there is no time left for this happen) they should be competitive with anyone left on the schedule.

I wondered about this myself.

Also didn't realize that we had 2 starters out. I look for this game to really motivate our players in the coming weeks. I look for them to play with a chip on their shoulder after being embarrassed this week.

I wondered about opening up in the shotgun on the 1st two series, but coaches must have wanted to take advantage of something they saw in the films. Unfortunately, whatever our gameplan was, it quickly had tobe revised !!:sour:

Interesting post! Contrast that against Tressel's approach and outcome in Texas. I don't know, to me it was all about a continuing kick coverage problem that carried over from last year and the momentum issues that resulted. I sincerely believe that if we had ANY kind of reasonable kick coverage, we'd have never found ourselves in that state of shock, momentum deficit that was so hard to break out of. As it was, we nearly came back.

We have to move on - I still expect that Massillon will regroup and get back on track, and find our way to the playoffs.

We've just GOT to fix the problems with Kick coverage!

I think we need to rely on them more-- only 3-4 starters are on the special teams and that hurts us in the big games! Not one 2way player showed signs of fatigue-- gamble didnt even touch the ball enough. We have to put daily in position to make plays-- if we leave him at olb teams will continue to play call around him! The injuries and players playing hurt doesnt help much! We will rebound but coaches need to make mid game adjustments and that is not happening in the big games!!

It's hard to be pleased with any facet of Saturday's game. The o-line had difficulty adjusting to Moe's d-line speed & strength, the punt coverage was unbelievable, the d had difficulty stopping the qb draw, Bobby had the worst game in his career, we looked bad AS A TEAM, including coaches. The only bright spots were: the pat kicks, and the punt BLOCK. Several players had their tongues hanging out in the 4th quarter, but our kids, exhausted, DID NOT QUIT! I expect the coaches to find more underclassmen to step up this week, and I saw one Sat.,I think will do exactly that. JT. He brought a burst of energy in that had been drained by the heat and the hits early in the game. I know in my heart that this Sat., the true Tigers will show up, there's a lot to learn, but lots of talent available, if they work hard and learn something from Sat.'s whupping! Go Tigers! Beat Hamilton!

Yes, I am sure that the coaches will be picking apart the game enough in their own right so they probaly don't need us amatuers to chime in with our "arm-chair, monday morning qb" comments, but does give us something to more to talk about after 2 blow-out wins. Maybe we were a tad over-confident going into the game and maybe we did read the press clippings about how good we were compared to Moeller supposedly being in a "down" year. But then again, maybe it was the best thing to happen to us, to have a wake up call early to let the players know that it isnt going to be easy to repeat what the team was able to do last year. The team was young and hungry and had something to prove and it was pointed out that maybe from this point on the players will begin to start playing with a "chip on their shoulders". The main thing is to stay focussed on the big goal. One game does not a season make and its been said many times before, "you are never as good as your best game and never as bad as your worst game". Sometimes you can learn more in a loss than a win. Sometimes you need adversity to grow. Without rain, you dont get grass and you dont get flowers. Everything withers and dies. Now we had a downpour Saturday but this could be the seeds being planted, with the right care and attention, mixed with the rain, that could turn up roses come the end of the season. It is always better to lose early than lose late. And the McKinley regular season game last year is a perfect example of how things can go downhill fast during a game and why it is so hard in the middle of that to turn that around especially in a high school game. But it is also a perfect example of what can result if we learn from that adversity. This is a test for us all; from the coaches to the players to the fans, to see what we are really made of!!! Lets go Tigers and fans alike and show what Massillon Pride is all about!!! Go Tigers!!! Beat Hamilton!!!

They had a couple scouts in the stands in Cincinnati. I too hope they think that poor showing was a typical Tigers performance.

If you're a 16 or 17 year old young man and don't have the motor to play both ways you're not a star- period. You can't make all-fed unless you play both ways! We need to hold our program to a higher standard.

Depth has nothing to do with losing. We should have the best 5-6 players playing both ways. This depth topic has nothing to do with losing to Moeller or going D2. It is what it is. If you don't have the horses to compete, you don't have the horses to compete.

I think we do have the horses to compete and the right coach to win. If the players execute and play every down like it's their last, we will be fine and in the hunt for a state championship.

I totally agree with this statement ....."I think we do have the horses to compete and the right coach to win. If the players execute and play every down like it's their last, we will be fine and in the hunt for a state championship."

What these kids need, besides being healthy of course, is some of the guys to step up and be leaders and make sure the team stays fired up. We lost a couple of great enthusiastic motivators the end of last season; like Rob, Troy, and Shawn. Someone needs to take over in that department, and I think they will.:gotigers:

That is a very true statement! I feel that we need more of the key players playing both sides of the ball. Someone needs to step up and be the leader of this team! The fed stuff could of been left out because half the fed players who make all conference will be from McKinley and Hoover!
