I watched it three times - it looked to me like the last lateral hit the ground then bounced into the runner's arms. Is it OK for a lateral to hit the ground cause it's not a forward pass?

Last week Trinity (7-1) was ranked 20th in Division III, one spot ahead of Waynesburg. I wonder if either will play Mount Union along the way in the Division III play-offs? Didn't Mount play Trinity a few years ago?

I'm answering my own question about Mount Union and Trinity. On Dec. 21, 2002, Mount Union won their 3rd consecutive Division III National Championship by defeating Trinity, TX, 48-7, in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem, VA. I guess 14 laterals wouldn't have helped Trinity that day!

So, take that, Texas! Go Purple Raiders!

an aside - in 1960 I went on from perennial powerhouse Massillon to graduate in 1964 from Mount Union, perpetual bottom dweller in Ohio Conference football standings. How things have changed!

I would trade at least a couple of Mount Union's football championships for just one for Massillon. Of course, if I were a recent Mount graduate, I'm sure I wouldn't feel that way.

It looked like everyone just quit on the other team on the last lateral because the ball hit the ground before it bounced into the player's hands.
What a way to lose!
