I kept watching for your updates...thought Lake might pull it out, especially when you had posted that there were only 20 seconds or so left.

LOL. Thats funny. Of course I hope we stay DI, but that was a funny comment.
Looks like the Fed. could be interesting this year.
Al, where did those rankings come from for the region 2 games? Is that how things would look based on points?

You people DON'T understand !! We WILL be a DII school next year! This, in no way effects our decision on who to play , or dampers our chance to play for the D1 TITLE.
DII is just a label we will get , based on our male student enrollment.
I repeat, we will be DII next year. :afro: :afro:

Maybe it is you who doesn't understand.
First, I said that I hope we are DI. I really don't know what will happen next year. Unless you are personally making the decision, how can you say for a fact we will be DII? I know everyone has their own opinions, but I am tired of people acting like they know for sure what will happen a year from now.

How would we play for a DI title if we are DII?
:offtopic:
Any of you guys who were at the Perry game...How did it go? Sounds like it was a close game. Wasn't there a big ceremony or something before the game?

This might help? According to the rules, Massillon Washington will be at Division II level because of Boys enrollment numbers. So we will be Div. II, BUT the rules also state that we can move up in Football to DIV I. So you can see we are a Div. II team that WILL WIN the Div. I TITLE. We will play a DIV. I schedule next year.

Ok, you got me Fats. I am under the impression that he was implying that we will be playing in DII (come playoff time). Maybe I misunderstood. I guess we will be either be a DII team or a DII team playing DI in the playoffs if thats how one wants to look at it. I guess personally I would call us a DI team if we opted up instead of a DII opting up. I guess it is all in how you look at it.

Perry pretty much controlled the first half to take a 23-10 lead. The Panthers let Darby back into the game and gave up two 3rd quarter TD's to trail 24-23. Perry managed only one first down in the period. In the fourth, Perry had a 15 play, 98 yard drive to retake the lead. Perry stopped Darby on 4th and 7 from their own 8 with 1:09 to go to preserve the 31-24 win.
Prior to the game, the Panthers celebrated 50 years of Panther football. Over 200 former players and all living coaches returned for the event. Perry's three Stark County MVP's returned as well. Probably the largest ovation of the evening was when Keith Wakefield was introduced. Kudos to BIG ED and others for organizing this event.

No, Its DEFINATELY YOU that doesn't understand !! Ididn't make the decision, but a friend of mine named OHSAA did !! As I stated , DII is based ONLY on our male enrollment".
Playoffs, schedule, band, booster club, coaches, and/or fans will have NO effect on our STATE ISSUED division ranking !!!
A little snooty reply, for someone who DOESN'T UNDERSTAND how the division rankings are assigned !!!:doh2:
In 2007, we WILL BE DII !!! However, wewill still play for D1 Title! (hopefully)
If I tell you it's Easter, you better start coloring eggs !!:cool2:

Relax chief. I understand how it works. If you read my other post, I said that it depends on how you look at it. I know that based on numbers we will be DII next year. I just stated that if we opted up to DI then I would consider ourselves a DI team. It seems based on your comments that you would still consider them a DII team (just playing a DI schedule and playoffs) which is fine if thats what you want to do.
Just curious how you know that we will opt. up for DI next year for sure? I really hope that we do, but I really don't see how anyone can say for certain. Making a good playoff run this year would really help our case, but who knows what the admin. is thinking.

It doesn't matter what me or you consider Massillon.
OHSAA has already decided that we ARE a DII school in 2007. No reasoning or thinking needed. OSHAA already made the decision !!!
Lake plays as many D1 teams as we do, and they know they are DII.
Don't be afraid of the "label". It's not embarrassing, bad, degrading, etc, etc,
It's just a reflection of the male attendace.
Classs dismissed !!

You are right, it is just a label. I just hope we can opt. up to DI.
Butler, sounds like it was alot of fun. How many former players came back? I know its been awhile, but its still hard for me grasp that Wakefield isn't there.
Mentor and Solon looks like it was close. How is Solon this year? Anyone know?

One of the organizers posted on yappi that it was 239 former players. And yes it was a fun night. My class is having a reunion this weekend, so that team was well represented.

Watched the Bucks !! I would've liked to stay for the X/Ed's, but it was a LONG day in the HOT sun. We got tothe stadium in the 2nd quarter of the Highlands/Louisville ST X game. So we were there a LONG time today !!
A/C felt good after the game. Massillon loss put a huge damper on the OSU party mood for me !!

Boardman 21 Chaney 7 we're gonna win the Fed this year. We play at a struggling Jackson team next week.
Jackson struggled against two very good opponents in weeks 1 & 2. But they seemed to be turning things around. We'll see.
Good luck to you guys. See you next week.
GO BEARS!

Though I truly hope no one gets angry with me about this, I must point out the obvious:
1) The officials in Massillon who wish to get us into the Federal League (including our head coach), will likely opt to send Massillon to Division II for the playoffs after this season is over. I deeply suspect this is what they mean when they say they want to "do what is best for our football players."
2) Losing 48-14 to the likes of Moeller will only serve to strengthen their case.
3) Massillon fans continue to clamor for a return to the day we regularly win state championships in football. To those in charge of the football program, this issue is best resolved by entering D-2 playoffs, as we have never won a D-1 playoff title.
TigerCarl suspects we are now in the final year of competing for D-1 titles. The best way of changing this is, of course, by winning the state championship THIS YEAR! So it's important to support the team with all your might, and help lead the 2006 to ultimate playoff glory. If we win it all this year, then we have a much better argument for staying in D-1.
